About this item
- CAMPING BLANKET - This thick woolen blanket is perfect as a car blanket or for your bug out bag supplies. Great for everyday or emergency use, it's better than army surplus gear
- WARM - This army wool blanket traps body heat in extreme cold, even when wet. It's also breathable, temperature regulating and loom woven for durability
- NATURALLY FIRE RETARDANT - We never add flame retardant chemicals. Because wool is inherently flame resistant, it's the best material for a fireside blanket
- EASY CARE - Our wool blankets and throws are machine washable (see below for care info). Also factory washed 3X so they are ready for immediate use
- UPGRADED QUALITY - Significantly improved smell, softness and washability. Also now includes a reusable storage pouch

Use a Wool Friendly SoapWe recommend using a mild liquid soap or a wool specific detergent - no bleach or enzymes. Like all loom-woven blankets, it is normal for some minimal shedding and shrinkage to occur during the first few washes |
Use Cold WaterTo extend the life of your wool blanket, we recommend hand washing in cold water (a partially filled bathtub works great for this) |
Use a Delicate CycleYou may also machine wash your blanket separately in cold water using a gentle cycle - but do not use a washer with a center agitator. This blanket may also be dry cleaned if desired |
Air Dry Without HeatUse your washer's spin cycle to remove excess water - then line dry or lay flat to dry away from direct heat. Do not tumble dry using heat. Once the blanket is dry - use the no heat 'air fluff' dryer cycle to 'vacuum off' any loose blanket fibers |
Helpful Info
- Comfort Tips: We'd recommend keeping an additional layer of fabric between your skin and your wool blanket. For a chilly outdoor event - just wrap up and enjoy the coziness! For your sleeping bag - wrap the blanket around the outside of your bag for additional thermal insulation. For your bed at home - sandwich wool blankets between cotton sheets, other blankets and/or your bedspread
- No Need to Wash Before Use: While you can pre-wash your blanket if you'd like - your blanket was triple pre-washed at the factory and does not need to be washed before use
- Recommended Washing Frequency: Wool blankets generally don't need frequent washing - and will last longer by only doing so when it's clearly needed. To maintain freshness we recommend periodically airing your blanket outside. Minor soiling can be gently brushed off - or sponged off with a damp cloth
- Recommendations to Improve Wool Odor: First - please realize that wool itself certainly has a different smell to it than cotton or polyester - especially if it is wet or damp. If there are any lingering odors you'd like to eliminate - the best remedy we've found is to let the blanket air outside in the sun for a day or two (even in colder temperatures)
- Blanket Temperature Ratings: It's difficult to give temperature ranges that are actually useful because of the subjective nature of what constitutes 'warm' from one person to another. Given this we'd recommend thinking of your sleep system in terms of layers. Too cold? Add a layer. Too hot? Remove one. Given the weight of EKTOS blankets and the unique properties of wool, we believe you'll find them to be a valuable part of your layering strategy
- Use of Recycled Fibers: Our blankets contain a mix of both new and recycled wool fibers. The new virgin fibers provide more strength and protection against shedding - while using recycled wool allows us to offer blankets at more affordable prices (while also diverting many tons of useful material away from landfills). Also of note - because our 100% wool blankets are made from a blend of new and recycled wool fibers it's possible that they can contain very small (immaterial) amounts of man-made fibers
- 90% Wool vs. 100% Wool Blankets: Besides the obvious size, weight, and material composition differences - the biggest differentiating factor between our 90% and 100% wool blankets is the quality of the raw material inputs used to make them. Our 100% wool blanket product line uses higher quality fibers and a higher quantity of virgin wool
- Country of Manufacture: EKTOS Wool Blankets are Made in India

Ever since they were invented a century ago, man-made textile fibers have done more harm than good. In addition, synthetic fibers are just not very good at providing warmth, wicking moisture or breathing well. Sometimes the best way forward can be to return to the time-honored wisdom of the past. We are thrilled to be part of the movement to return to the more natural and renewable textile fiber of wool.

Gave it 1 star for water resistance because a wool blanket is not really meant to be water resistant?? Not sure why that’s a rating choice.
Gave it 1 star for easy to clean because even though they say you can machine wash them I HIGHLY SUGGEST that you DONT! if you need to wash this HAND WASH ONLY. wool is not really supposed to be machine washed or tumble dried. line dry only!! **.
Machine washing / drying will cause a considerable about of shed and wool loss .. not ideal. It WILL eventually destroy your wool blankets / clothes. SO hand wash ONLY!! :)
I don’t plan on really washing this any way... wool is pretty anti bacterial on its own.. and if it gets really dirty on camping trips .. I’ll hand wash it / spot wash, roll to wring it out and line dry it as that is the proper way.
initial impression is pretty nice! I bought another literally immediately after opening:) . The weave is fairly tight I do wish it were tighter but it’s ok honestly. some light does come through but I’m happy this is a legitimate loom woven blanket with high wool content for a good price. It is a bit itchy like most wool products. something you’ll either like or hate.. just one of those things about wool I’m not sure why people complain about so much..
This blanket had ZERO smell was fairly soft too ! unlike my Rothco European style wool blanket which is another great 90% wool blanket which is loom woven . this blanket is comparable but softer and no bad smell . I’ll be sleeping with it tonight! :).
BTW : the Rothco euro style and this are the best bang for buck wool blankets ! especially for outdoor use!.
The Ektos is whipped or sown on all edges too which is a really nice touch making the blanket a little tougher! One thing the Rothco does not have but doesn’t seem like a major issue.
Great blanket I’ll test it outside camping soon enough! and I will update on warmth/Durability! so far I do like it .
I’ll probably buy a third too.
I’ll be back later for an update review:) may take time!
UPDATE!
Coming up on one year of daily use and it’s holding up just fine and plenty warm ! I say 5 stars!
I’ve yet to put it in the washer . I’ve only spot cleaned as necessary so I can’t say about ability to wash the blanket in the washing machine . And I probably never will. when the time comes I’ll dry clean !
UPDATE!!
2 years of use! In the books still holding up great! hand washed multiple times line dried no issues ! Absolutely amazing blankets for the price .
Living in cold climates, wool blankets (clothing & outerwear, too) are heaven sent. Here in Montana, winters get very cold, but Ektos blankets make me cozy, whether I'm using as a throw while sitting in the living room or having one on my bed, without the awfulness of all synthetic fabric. Ektos Wool Blankets contain 70% or more wool with synthetic fibers added for strength, longevity, durability, and washability. These are great qualities in a blanket and the price for the quality can't be beat (in my experience).
As long as Ektos kerps making great quality blankets at affordable prices, I'll buy & recommend them. I keep one in my car for emergencies, one under my bedsheets (I have hypothyroidism, and can get cold easily-- doing this has markedly improved my sleep), in winter I have one over the cotton muslin or cotton thermal blanket & under the wool duvet, I also use as home cuddle blanket for myself & have purchased Ektos Wool blankets for family members (to their appreciation). Again, I have been buying them since 2015 & the selection has improved since then.
If you prefer natural fiber blankets, whether for car, home, or camping, I recommend Ektos Wool Blankets, especially if you live in a cold climate. 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
1 star deduction, because the initial odor is offputting, but it does fade with airing out or laundering. It has not affected my asthma or allergies, but it possibly could for others.

I took the second photo in case there are people who are on the fence regarding the difference between 90% wool and the 100% wool blankets (I bought both). The light brown is the 100% wool, and as you can see the yarn is thicker. It still drapes pretty darned well, and is slightly thicker and warmer overall. I very much enjoy them both and use the 100% wool for longer in the season and throw a twin on the bed as a coverlet or underneath as an extra layer when it's colder. I ended up buying several of these; that's how well I liked them. I have one on the couch too.
They do fine in a washing machine (gentle cycle, detergent that does NOT have stain removing enzymes or "oxi" in it - those dissolve protein, including wool, which is why some people have such terrible problems with shedding) and if you add a no rinse wool wash with lanolin to the rinse they come out nice and soft. Treat these right and they will be something to pass down; they should last a lifetime, really.
