Absolutely do not buy this bike!
The pedals are dangerously close to the front tire when properly assembled. Don’t think twice about going back to your search results and finding a different bike for your child. My 9 year old son immediately noticed how his foot hit the front tire and got right off. I wouldn’t want other parents to experience the same disappointment I did. I contacted customer service for DB and they approached the design flaw with the delusional approach of continuing to ask for additional photographs and never accepting responsibility or offering to remedy the situation. This is the only negative review I have ever written for a product. Avoid the disappointment and select another bicycle to ensure your special day goes off without a hitch. From one parent to another…

Bought this for my son last Xmas. I know how to work on bikes so it was pretty easy to setup and saved about $100 from buying from a bike store. Prior to this bike, had always bought non-name brand cheap bikes since they outgrow them so often. Since this bike will last a while, wanted a bike that was brand new.

Really high quality, looks beautiful paint. My son was very pleased. Comes in bike box and was not damaged in spite of being shipped, good protection. Great design b/c seat can be very low so they get used to being higher off the ground. Had no issues with the assembly or adjustment process. For those who don't know how to work on bikes, I'd recommend to just go to bike store and pay $300 for a bike that someone else had assembled. For those who know a bit and want to save the assembly cost, this is a great option to get a quality bike for less.

I have special bike tools to assemble/disassemble bikes and I didn't need any of them for this bike build. They include the wrench for the pedals, etc. They also have a bike assembly guide, which I didn't read. Bought a girl version for my daughter had had same great experience.

This is a great bike for the price paid. I was looking for something a step ahead of the typical big box store bikes. I have owned Diamond Back bikes in the past and been impressed by their durability. This proved to be a great bike for my son. On his initial ride ( a Scout outing) he rode 15 miles on dirt roads. He has no trouble shifting or making use of the multiple gears. Off road, the bike has held up great. I believe the one drawback it the weight. At 34 pounds, this bike is not as light weight as other higher priced bikes.

Item arrived in great shape with the bike and shipping box undamaged. Results will always vary depending on who handles one of these during shipment. Was purchased for a 10 year old boy who is 53-54" tall.

Upon final assembly, the brakes and rear derailleur needed to be tuned. No surprise there. Rims were mostly straight with only 10-15 mins of time spent truing them. Did spend longer than should have adjusting the handle bar. Most of the bike is of decent quality but felt the stem/bar assembly could be a better design for this price point. The steel frame seems durable of average weight with a nice painted finish. Took about 2 hours to unbox, assemble, and perform initial tune before first ride.

Overall handling is good. My boy thoroughly enjoys riding this bike. The Cobra is one of the few youth bikes of this size, for a boy, that has a top tube low enough for smaller riders. Besides the stem/bar assembly, the only issue I have with this bike is the fork. The fork is very stiff with limited travel and will be mostly useless for a 80-90 lb rider except for the most extreme trails. Perhaps it will "loosen" over time. He had a little trouble working through this bike's 21 speeds initially but is becoming easier to shift with each ride. This is his first trail-worthy bike and will be a nice transition into something bigger and better as he grows.

Has been in use for less than 2 weeks with no problems. Is a good value at the $168 price point especially if you can assemble and tune it yourself. Otherwise, consider taking this to a bike shop for assembly and setup. Properly tuned it will hold its own with bikes costing 3x more. Happy with the purchase but if more info had been available at the time, I would have purchased the Diamondback Octane 24 instead. At $245 currently, the Octane offers a lighter aluminum frame, more aggressive tires, replaceable hanger, and upgrades to the shifters, stem, seat and rear derailleur.

Purchased for $168 from Amazon in September 2015. Made in China.

UPDATE: 5 weeks since assembly, the stem bolt has needed tightened twice as it has worked loose. No other issues and overall quite happy with the purchase.

The bike looks nice but it is very heavy. Continually have problems with the handlebars. I had to add a band around the gooseneck in order to keep the handlebars from moving continuously.

Overall, my son loves this bike. We assembled it with no problems and made a minor adjustment to the rear derailer and it rode just fine for several months. Today, the handle for the rear brake handle broke. Upon inspection, it broke just above the lever point. To me, this seems like a poorly made piece that shouldn't have passed inspection.

I use this bike several times a week. I usually bike about 6 miles (4 days a week) on city streets. I’m adjusting or fixing something on this bike at least once a week. The handlebars get loose, the pedal has never worked properly, and the brakes are constantly loosening themselves. There is also no kickstand which is very confusing. For the amount of money I paid for this brand new bike, it sure does suck.

However, it does get me from A to B and hasn’t crashed yet. I wouldn’t waste my money on this if I were you.
