About this item
- MULTI-PURPOSE APPLICATION. This tool enables users to tackle medium to heavy-duty cultivating jobs well without straining or expending a lot of energy. It is a great design that's easy to use for homeowners, gardeners, and DIY enthusiasts. Great for archaeological projects, onion/carrot harvesting, and preparing flower beds.
- DUAL-PURPOSE HEAD. Pick/mattock head combo: use the pick’s action to break up, loosen and soil, or cultivate vegetable gardens. This tool will pick through hardpan soil and cut through small shrub roots. PLEASE NOTE: Item needs to be assembled before first use. It takes approx. 1 minute to attach the head to the handle (easy); an instruction email for quick assembly will be sent upon purchase of the mattock.

The fiberglass handles are lighter and stronger than wood and virtually unbreakable! The handles offer high visibility: you will easily locate the bright orange tool in the grass. Handle and head can be easily assembled before use.

I did have an issue with the first one I ordered where the envelope arrived but nothing was in it. Apparently it had fallen out during shipment . It's obviously not a good idea to ship this in an envelope, however it was fulfilled by Amazon and they were very good at issuing a replacement ASAP. The replacement was also shipped in an envelope but unlike the first one it arrived fine. My only two recommendations are that the manufacturer provide a better retention for the head of the tool and that whoever the shipper is uses a box rather than an envelope.

Using the wide end I could make quick work of any dirt or soil near a rock I was digging out. Than I could use the pick side to get in under the rock and pry it out with a decent amount of pressure being careful not to break the pick that is not rated for prying. If the rock still didn't want to move, I would use the wide end and dig a couple more times. This combo has freed 99% of the rocks I have encountered using minimal effort.

Great price and great tool. Makes quick work of soil or gravel. Can easily chop a trench in a small amount of time with this tool. Cuts most roots you come across with 1 or 2 hacks of the wide end. Overall well worth my money!
EDIT: If you are having problems with the pick coming down on your hands, try to secure it the best you can than try using some super glue around the base. Make a few layers over time and it will not be able to fall down anymore and it will be 100% secure.
This is a compact, easy to use and carry tool. It seems well built with a lifetime of use ahead for it.
The handle attachment works well as I have a large, sturdy WW II British surplus pickax which attaches the same way, so I know it works. Having no need to carry mine disassembled, I drilled a hole in the head, drove it strongly into the nice fiberglass handle and put a screw into it. Still able to be disassembled with a little extra work, but the extra security appeals to me. I must say though that the maker's assembly method is wholly adequate.
Delightful little pick that is a pleasure to use. Great product for an unusually fair price. Most highly recommended.
I've used it to dig a planting trench and to dig out a root raising some asphalt walkway in preparation for cold patch, and it's been just the ticket each time. Quality is just fine, although I've improved the finish and edges with a file. Handle is sturdy and seems very unlikely to be a cause of failure. The forged head is plenty tough and it holds its edges as well as any tool for digging in dirt. The head locks on the handle taper reliably for use. The price is right and with the easily detachable head when you're through using it, storage is also easier.
