A very nice, high quality DVD player. The unit was dead simple to hook up with the included high speed HDMI cable (required cables are rarely provided by manufacturers and vendors of A/V equipment, this is a very nice touch on the part of the vendor). The first power on and setup couldn't be easier - the only thing you have to do is enter your Wi Fi password if you are using Wi Fi. You can also hook it up using a Cat 5 cable. The first power on takes a minute or two and you are then prompted to install a software update. Just select "continue" and go pour a cup of tea while the update installs - about 5 minutes in my case. And then you are ready to go.

Upsides: gorgeous picture even for standard (non Blu Ray) DVDs. Comes with a lot of Streaming services installed. Setup couldn't be simpler - everything you need to set this up is in the box; no last minute dash to the store for batteries or video cables. The remote can be programmed to a few brands of televisions.

I can think of only a couple of very minor Downsides: The opening screen is pretty cluttered with a large number of streaming services and you have to use the down button to get down to play your DVD - not a huge deal. And you can delete them off if you wish. Also, the instructions are pretty sparse, but this player is so easy to set up and use, you really don't need them. However, the instruction sheet is pretty emphatic about making sure you have all connections made before hooking up the power, so I would be careful to follow that advice. I wish the remote were slightly larger so the buttons weren't so close together (I especially dislike the large dedicated "Netflix" button right next to the Play and Fast Forward buttons which is easy to hit by mistake).

My Downsides are pretty minor and you won't go wrong in a nice Blu Ray player at this very reasonable price.

We Bought this for my daughter. I have never owned a Blu Ray player before. Not only does it have a superior picture but it also plays many of the DVD’s that my daughter has gotten too scratched up to play in her DVD player.
I was not expecting it to be capable of playing the DVD’s that my daughter couldn’t watch on her DVD player anymore due to them being so scratched up.
That was an added bonus to buying this blu ray player. The key feature that was the reason I bought this blue ray player is because her TV will not link to our wireless network. It is too old to have this feature, but the blu ray disc player allows her to stream movies from many many different movie providers regardless of the ability of her TV.
It works great for streaming her cartoons and I will be buying another one like this for the other TV in the future. I never realized it would be so easy to install either. This is a purchase that I am glad that I decided to make.
The player seems durable and the price is reasonable and it works great for streaming off of the World Wide Web.

Great for the old flat screen in the spare room. Instantly turn any old TV into a wifi capable streaming and blueray device. I had an old basic flat screen and old sound sustem neither wifi capable now i can streem movies, pandora iheart new, tv and play DVD /Blueray. Works great the Netflix auto button does not work so well and once you save only a few app features you cant add more on your favorits list. but they can be accessed still from the main list.

Very nice product. Well packaged and very easy to install. I really appreciated the bundle that included the HDMI cable. I didn't have to go out and buy one. I haven't had a lot of time to use it yet but seems to work perfectly. Also really like the WI-FI interface, I don't have change the source on the TV. When you turn on the player it automatically switches to the internet options screen with a dvd icon to select if you want to watch a DVD. All of the up to date internet apps are all together on one screen. NICE!

I IMPLORE anyone reading this to avoid this model at all costs. I’m a fan of Sony, read the reviews, digested what was what and bought one. It lasted about a day. YouTube would lock up constantly, prime wouldn’t play AT ALL. LOVE AMAZON and their return policy. Back it goes. As I’m staring at THAT one, ready to be dropped at the UPS store, I’m laughing at the fact that I was dumb enough to give it another go and ordered a SECOND one. Hey, might have gotten a dud the first time, right? New one arrived about 3 hrs ago. YouTube works great, no ‘loading’ icons. Get settled in for a flick on prime. I tried repeatedly to watch a movie, only to have it skip and skip and skip and repeat every few seconds. Then come the prompts. Device bandwidth too low, application terminated, on and on. Finally dug out my 5 year old backup unit and it works flawlessly. STILL have faith in Sony, but this thing is an absolute waste of money. Avoid at ALL COSTS.

I am a man who has a lot of dvds, blu-ray dvds and music cds. I can play them on this player, that's right even the music cds. I love it and it was easy to set up. Actual very simple and fast. Took my old one out and put this one in. If you had to start from scratch an install it, it come with every thing including a hi speed cable for the tv. The only thing you might have to buy is a cable for the internet. I hit the jackpot when I ordered this I bought two. Looks good and plays great!
