Very easy to assemble took about 15 minutes.
At the range thinking of the reviews I was prepared for tI'm spent sighting it in.
It shot 18 inches low, but centered. Imagine my surprise when I was sighted in perfectly on the 5th bolt down range.
I do now believe the reports on accuracy. I won't shoot two bolts at the same spot. You would ruin 1 with it being hit by the other.
Nothing I would change at this time.
Update....Dec 2020.
Still in love with this crossbow.
I have taken 3 whitetails with it now.
Each one achieved complete pass through of the deer.
1 broke the shoulder then still passed through.
1 broke 2 ribs going in and still powered through.
Power to spare at reasonable distances.
Update Nov 2021
Crossbow is still running strong. 2 more deer harvested. 25 to 35 yards.
Montec solid heads achieved again complete pass through. Neither went more than 40 yards.
Still shooting more than one bolt at a time 30 yards, you are taking a good chance of ruining a bolt by hitting it. Accuracy in spades.
If you are on a budget, looking to get your first crossbow or have some decent accessories laying around I would reccomend it.
UPDATE: Today is the first day of archery season in my state. I cocked the bow at 6 am and packed up around 930 am. I went to uncock it into a standard archery target with the provided bolts and feild points and the string exploded. The rail was lubed and the strings were waxed and the bolts and points are obviously manufacturer recommended. This bow is barely 3 weeks old and its totally wrecked.
I called Bear and they said that they would warranty the string but that I'd have to take it to an archery shop, have them order the string in and put it on and that they would probably charge me labor for this. WHAT A HASSLE! Maybe I got a defective product but in any event, I am extremely frustrated and disappointed.
The Good:
Very easy to assemble. Use blue Lock-tite.
There’s plenty of power for taking down whitetails. I wouldn’t hesitate to take this xbow on a hog, elk or bear hunt.
The quiver is basic but more than adequate to hold your bolts.
The cocking rope is of good quality.
The bolts aren’t too bad. They come with 100 grain field point. Shot similar to my piledrivers.
The adjustable stock, pistol grip and forgrip are great.
The Meh:
The trigger. It’s not great BUT it’s no worse than other similar crossbows. Lots of take up before it breaks. It’s better pulled than squeezed.
The sling. It’s not bad but there are others for less than $20 that are much better.
The scope. I didn’t even bother attaching it. The xbow is capable of so much more than what the included scope will allow. Highly recommend the Sightmark Core SX. I did not experience any difficulty zeroing in the Sightmark like others have with the included scope.
Overall this is a great Mankung rebranded Crossbow. Can’t wait to take it hunting.
