Great Crossbow, not so great Scope
4 Stars
Great Crossbow, not so great Scope
This crossbow is a great buy for the price with a couple caveats.First and most importantly, know that the scope they provide is barely useable (in my case, and based on several other reviews i've read). I maxed out the elevation and windage, and you can see the results in my second photo. I was a couple inches down and right on my target at 20 yards, and that was the best I could get without using shims on the scope ring to get it closer. I ended up contacting Bear Archery support and they are currently shipping me a replacement. My hopes aren't too high, but despite this I'm happy with my purchase at this price. I'm already planning on putting on a nicer scope and/or an HHA dial with an aftermarket scope.I chose to put on Limb Savers, as seen in my first picture. The ones I used were a very tight fit, and was extremely difficult to put on. There may be better options for this crossbow, but I'd avoid the Limbsaver SuperQuad, especially if you like having feeling in your fingers. I am very happy with it cosmetically, but dang...it's been 4 days since I installed them and my thumbs are still sore. If I had to do it again, I'd bring it to the local bow shop, and have them recommend/install something.Assembly:I chose to pick up a bottle of Blue Loctite and used it during assembly. I've been told Crossbows tend to have issues with screws/bolts backing out. Whether this is true or not, it cannot hurt, whereas getting hit by a string or limb probably would hurt...so I made the effort. The assembly was super-simple. Just follow the listed steps and pay attention to not damage the string during install.I decided that 'quiet' is slightly better than 'faster', therefore purchased some string silencers and heavier bolts (Carbon Express Piledrivers with 125gr practice tips). String silencers slow it a bit, and the heavier bolts very slightly quiet the bow down, and I'm comfortable shooting out to 60 yards with my friends much slower crossbow using a similar setup. I have no doubt I'll be able to take this out to 75+ yards when I finally get a worthy scope. You will love the thud it makes on target, especially if coming from a Compound bow like I am. It's quite satisfying.I adjusted the cocking rope as well, as it was too long. This isn't particular to this crossbow from what I read. It just seems that they are made long to accomodate more models. When the rope is attached to the strings, I wanted it to be a snug fit, so I cut and knotted the rope to the length I preferred. It made cocking much more comfortable, as I didn't have to raise my arms to/past my chest. This also made de-cocking this crossbow comfortable. De-cocking isn't typically recommended by manufacturers, but if you're interested just check youtube for a multitude of video instructions. (and be extremely careful)*added note*Bear Archery Support was extremely easy to work with. I simply registered my crossbow for warranty and then emailed them with a description of my issue. I received a response the next morning that they were shipping a replacement. That's pretty good service in my book. I never had to "speak" to anybody.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Crossbow!
Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2018
I’m very impressed with this crossbow. It’s a lot of power and reliability for the money.

The Good:
Very easy to assemble. Use blue Lock-tite.
There’s plenty of power for taking down whitetails. I wouldn’t hesitate to take this xbow on a hog, elk or bear hunt.
The quiver is basic but more than adequate to hold your bolts.
The cocking rope is of good quality.
The bolts aren’t too bad. They come with 100 grain field point. Shot similar to my piledrivers.
The adjustable stock, pistol grip and forgrip are great.

The Meh:

The trigger. It’s not great BUT it’s no worse than other similar crossbows. Lots of take up before it breaks. It’s better pulled than squeezed.
The sling. It’s not bad but there are others for less than $20 that are much better.
The scope. I didn’t even bother attaching it. The xbow is capable of so much more than what the included scope will allow. Highly recommend the Sightmark Core SX. I did not experience any difficulty zeroing in the Sightmark like others have with the included scope.

Overall this is a great Mankung rebranded Crossbow. Can’t wait to take it hunting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shoots like a dream. Can’t beat the price.
Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2018
You can not beat the quality for the price! Arrived when amazon said it would. All parts were in the box, tools included, instructions easy to follow for assembly. Took 7 shots to get it zeroed in at 30yds. This thing is fast, the bolts were driving so far into my target that I had to look at the reverse side in order to make my sight in corrections. Love the adjustable stock, I’m 6’4” and it adjusted perfectly for my frame. I made sure to lube the string and rail prior to use, everything worked perfectly. I have never used a crossbow before, wish I would have gotten this sooner! Be prepared to be impressed with the accuracy. I’m 100% satisfied with this purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Almost a 5
Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2019
Initially I was very happy with this. It seemed well built and wasn't cheap or plastic feeling. It came with a decent scope, bolts, an AR style stock and 2 Picatinny rails. It assembled easy and after a few shots to dial the scope in it was fast. accurate and consistent. Really a great deal compared to other higher price ones that my friends have. Then......after hunting one evening I inserted the de-cocking bolt and fired it at the ground. Somehow the string ripped off the vertical post that holds the bolt in the channel. Bottom line, after firing it about 15 times it was broke. I would have rated it a 5 otherwise and I guess I would still recommend it since this doesn't seem to be a problem others are experiencing.
