About this item
- The EcoSpin is a hand cranked mini spin dryer, capable of drying up to 4.5 pounds of clothes in just a few minutes of time. It’s the perfect companion to the EcoWash. Get the perfect duo for washing and drying your clothes.
- The unique design of the Avalon Bay EcoSpin features none of the agitators or heating elements that destroy your clothes. With EcoSpin, your clothes will come out 95% dry so you reduce the time it takes to dry clothes.
- It can also be used to wash your clothes! Add just 4.5L to 5L of water and watch your clothes be clean in minutes. It works best on smaller items. Larger tasks we would recommend EcoWash for the pressurized cleaning.
- The EcoSpin portable spin dryer/washing machine is a huge money-saver. It requires no electricity to run, and it uses only a fraction of the amount of water and soap/detergent used by electric washing machines. Skip the laundry mat and start going Eco.
- The lightweight, highly portable EcoSpin spin dryer and washing machine can be used virtually anywhere such as a dorm, off-grid, apartment, boats, RVs, camping, and fishing. No matter where you are in life, EcoSpin has got your back.

Product Description
Whether you’re passionate about reducing your carbon footprint or just want a laundry solution that fits into a small space, the EcoSpin the innovative machine you’ve been looking for. This non-electric washing machine is small enough to take on a camping trip but effective enough to wash your favorite clothes on a regular basis — all while saving you money on utilities and laundry detergent.
Easy to Use for Off-the-Grid Laundry
The EcoSpin washer has a simple, effective design that efficiently agitates clothes to get them clean and then spins them to wring away excess water. Just drop up to 4.5 pounds of laundry in the machine, add 1.5 gallons of water and a half tablespoon of detergent, and crank away. The machine operates as easily as a salad spinner to get your clothes clean quickly. When you’re finished, the attached hose makes draining and rinsing a breeze.
Compact Design Fits Anywhere
At just 13.5 inches in diameter and height, the EcoSpin portable washer can be stowed away just about anywhere. Hide it in a closet or deep drawer when it’s not in use, and take it with you anywhere you go: From camping to college, this powerful little machine fits into your lifestyle. It’s ideal for tiny house living or for apartment dwellers who prefer to skip the lines at the laundromat.

Customers like the ease of use of the washer. They say that it is simple, easy to operate, and convenient to use for small loads and light articles of clothing. Customers also mention that the basket helps in draining.

Customers are mixed about the spin of the washer. Some mention that it has a nice strong handle, it spins well, and it's a really great spinner if you hate wringing by hand. However, others say that it just spins like a salad spinner, the basket like most washers can start to wiggle and hit the sides when the spin, and after a year, mine started slipping while cranking it, and to ring the water out it starts shaking all over the place.
"...Its much easier and works fine. It makes the inner basket spin, still, too.//..." Read more
"...load of laundry earlier today, the crank handle stalled and the unit stopped working, as shown in the included video...." Read more
"...Not too pricey for what it is. Spins clothes so they are not soggy, so that they don't drip when you hang dry them...." Read more
"...I don’t bother trying to spin clean clothes. The handle doesn’t rotate back and forth easily once it’s filled with water and cloths...." Read more
Customers are mixed about the ease of cleaning. Some mention that clothes washed best when soaked in the tub without the basket, then agitated, it's great for washing small items like under garments, a few t-shirts, etc., it makes handwashing/drying so much easier, and is way less messy and easier to clean up. However, others say that rinsing them was not as good as they hoped and the water still contained some, it is not a washer, and there are design flaws that make it less effective on washing clothes.

Customers are mixed about the leakage of the washer. Some mention that most of the water was pulled out and a child can easily operate the crank, while others say that it's prone to leak water out of the side and make a mess. The spinner does get the laundry pretty dry if you have enough strength to spin it super fast for. However, some customers say that the hose started to leak where it attaches to the spinner, and on the first load, my counter and floor were FLOODED.

"...Tried on the counter top as well, it turned into a watery mess which I don’t want in my RV. My husbands idea was to use it outside...." Read more
Customers are dissatisfied with the quality of the washer. They say that it is too flimsy, the material it is made of is fragile, and the frame is very rickety. The drain tube is floppy and not a real hose. The construction was not well engineered, and it is difficult to use.
"...I wasn't all that happy with it. The frame was very rickety like it was going to break apart under the weight of water and wet clothes inside...." Read more

"...how little you actually need for everything to come out clean and smelling fresh...." Read more
"...about the lifetime of this because the plastic it is made from is very flimsy and the turning handle often seems it will just break off!..." Read more
Customers are dissatisfied with the value of the washer. They say that the plastic was cracking, it was a waste of money, and it's nothing more than an overly glorified salad spinner. Some say that it' a little expensive for being plastic and that it takes too much effort for the results.
"...Made cheaply for the price of the product...." Read more
"...It's not worth it at any price, so save your coins!" Read more
"...If you hate laundromats as much as I do this is definitely worth the money...." Read more
"...Too much effort for the results, and I was wet at the end. If you can corral it better than I did, it spin drys pretty well...." Read more
Customers have negative opinions about the suction of the washer. They mention that the sucession cups are not strong enough, so they can't really get a good spin going. The bottom of the spinner has these little suction cups, and when they would place the spinnor in their tub, the teeth lose grip on the mechanics. The handle to spin it, it's just too much force on cheap thin plastic.

A few days ago my front load washer stopped working. I'm not going to get it repaired, instead I ordered this ecospin washer. I expected cheap plastic but was actually impressed with the quality of the plastic drum and the lid. I had to do 5 loads which would have been equivalent to one load in the front load washer. I used the same water for each load. I placed a clean bucket beside the ecospin and after each load instead of draining out the water I put the washed clothes in the bucket. When I was finished with washing, I drained out the water and used the ecospin like a colander. I sprayed water on the clothes one load at a time, then spun them dry in my little turbo spinner that spins at more than 1700 rpm. Yeah, it requires electricity but only for about 30-45 seconds! Spinning for longer than that is a waste. This system seems like it's going to work out pretty well. Being as graceful as I am, I spilled my lunch on my sweatshirt earlier in the day and even though I didn't pretreat it before putting it in the ecospin washer it came out nice and clean. I'm hoping by only using the hand crank during the wash cycle and not the rinse or spin dry cycle the ecospin will last a long time.
Now, about the the EcoWash look alike hand crank washer I'm not using, it will come in handy when my gas dryer quits too. I'm going to use it like the air fluff cycle on the dryer. By not filling it with water the frame should be fine. I'm going to put a couple dry towels and a couple dryer balls inside the drum with freshly spun out clothes and crank for about 5 minutes or so. This should require no muscle whatsoever since there is no water inside. When spinning out clothes in the little turbo spinner, they get pretty wrinkled. The EcoWash look alike washer along with a couple dry towels and a couple dryer balls should remedy that problem nicely.
Now, when I first got this thing, I loved that it did what I wanted that I overlooked its glaring design flaws:
- It's a plastic lid that "locks" into place using four flimsy plastic tabs that catch on plastic stops on the rim of the base unit. Since plastic isn't a solid durable material, this thing has a limited expiration date.
- There's no gasket, so even when you fill with water below the max line, it's still prone to leak water out of the side and make a mess
- The rubber feet on the base are flimsy low-quality plastic that's not able to retain a suction creating curved shape. At best, one or two will catch, causing the unit to rotate as you spin the handle. This forces you to hug it to keep it in place while you spin the drum. Factor in the point above, that means you end up wet too.
As I was doing a load of laundry earlier today, the crank handle stalled and the unit stopped working, as shown in the included video. At the end of the video, you can also see that the lid is already missing one screw (which I never noticed fall out), and that the other two are already coming loose. All of the centrifugal force involved with operating this thing is too much for the simplistic design and cheap materials they used to make this.
According to the warranty, they'll replace defective parts for the first year, but you've got to pay the shipping costs. I purchased this on July 20th, and had it fail little over a month later on September 9th. I don't expect a provided replacement part to last longer than the remainder of the warranty period, and it's not eligible for return through Amazon.
This would be an amazing product if it it employed gaskets and were made of a heavier metal material to keep it in place when spinning. As it's constructed now, it's a $70 pitfall that's going to cost you more in frustration and shipping costs for replacement parts. Stay away from this.
