Xfinity Approved - Installed without having to call Xfinity
If looking for a gateway device (modem/router combo) for Xfinity cable internet that offers a straight-forward setup, this unit is a perfect choice (except for their gigabit speed plans).Very easy set up. I had a Xfinity supplied gateway in use for a couple years. I disconnected the cables from my Xfinity unit, connected them to this Motorola unit and powered it up.NOTE: Next step needs to be logging into the router (http://192.168.0.1) with default UN/PW (on bottom of router) and setting a new password. If you connect to your Xfinity first as I did, you will have to factory reset the router, then login with default UN/PW and change the PW.Started up my Xfinity app on my phone, added the required info, and was on line within in a few minutes. Initially it said it was connected with no internet, but after a couple minutes everything was working. After logging into the router, it recommends you use the exact network name and PW if you are replacing a router. This allows everything you have connected wirelessly to continue working normally once setup is complete.Pros:Easy setupGood speed (good for plans up to 800 Mbps)Excellent range on wireless for a combined unitAble to wirelessly stream 4K on TV that is one floor below routerCon:The only negative I have right now is that the power cord is only 5 ft, and my unit sits about 6 ft from my UPS. I had to use an extension cord where I did not need one for the Xfinity unit. IMO an 8 or 10 ft cord should be the standard.Overall, very happy with this purchase.
