This is a quality made and wisely designed kitchen appliance. I have ground popcorn kernels in this, something which is difficult to do in many sets such as this. The stone composition lends to superior grip and can tackle much more than simple guacamole. Grooves are evident in the mortar bowl, to help grip and pulverize spices, grains, etc. The pestle, double ended, can be used on its side to employ maceration on both ends. Multifunctional, indispensable. Well done and highly recommended.

Love this mortar and pestle! The 8” wide size is exactly what I was hoping it to be - wide and deep enough to hold plenty of ingredients. It’s solid, no cracks, the pestle feels great in your hands and you can’t beat the circular grinding motion this style allows vs. banging to grind with a skinny pestle and narrow mortar. This is a shallow and wide mortar that is made of stone. It’s quite heavy and will last forever. It also has padding on the legs so it won’t scratch countertops. The pestle is also rock but is well shaped so it’s easy to hold. Very good quality product that is worth every penny..

For months I’d been eyeing this beauty up but wouldn’t justify the expense when I already had two pestle and mortars but this one just sung to me. It’s heavy, it’s solid, it’s stunning. I cannot stress enough, the importance of “seasoning” your p&m WELL, BEFORE using it with food. Take your time with this part and your p&m will serve you well. I love to cook, especially with fresh herbs and spices but it was getting harder and harder to use my hands with my other p&m. (I have fibromyalgia and struggle with my hands) This one however, holds no prisoners. Because the pestle is rounded and because of the wide edges, it literally takes seconds to completely turn your ingredient to dust. There’s no “banging” your ingredients, just roll around and around using the whole mortar. I genuinely love this thing and because it’s so beautifully crafted, it cuts down time and that for me means less pain. I HIGHLY recommend this. It’s worth every.single.penny.
