Original Review:
Great Guitar and accessories! Packed very well, guitar sounds wonderful, right outta the box! Quick tuning, and your ready to roll. No complaints, just straight happy with this purchase! I haven’t played in over 30 years, so got this beginner guitar, and I can honestly say it sounds beautiful, looks beautiful. Great little amp, perfect for practice, not for performing. Don’t pass this up if your debating between othe guitars around this price point...a true bargain for what you get. Keep on Truckin’ my friends!
Update (4/1/2019): I have played this guitar daily since I first opened it in Christmas morning (2018). I still stand firm with my review. Only two negative points to mention now that I have spent lots of time with my sunburst friend. Guitar goes out of tune fairly easily and often when playing, and sometimes while having it on the guitar stand I purchased for it. It’s still very manageable, but a little irritating at times. 2nd negative is the tone and switching between pick ups. When switching between certain tones, there is no change. Not a huge deal for me, but depending on what your playing, not having certain tones right where you want them can be a little annoying. Otherwise, this is still an amazing deal and perfect for any beginner or casual player looking for guitar (package) in this price range. Enjoy✌🏼
UPDATE 12/13/2020: I brought this in to my local guitar shop, has it set up proper, and it sounds excellent. The switches work great, also had the frets filed down some, since they were poking out and caused some scratching and cuts on my left hand on my pointer finger. Easy fix you can actually do at home. The action is wonderfully low making it much easier for bar chords and sliding up and down the neck. So again, I stand by my original review - it’s a perfect guitar for beginners and those who are picking up a guitar after not playing for many years and are unsure if the commitment is there. Once you are sure your into playing/practicing daily (as I did after not playing for 20+ years), then save and buy a better guitar. I have done so and now use this for learning how to do set ups at home, string changes, lowing or raising the action, and great if you aren’t familiar with the inner workings of the electric guitar. Highly recommended to parents looking for an affordable option for your child, or if your an adult looking for an inexpensive guitar in the Stratocaster style, this one should not disappoint!
Out of the box it was set up pretty good and only needed to adjust a few strings for intonation. The frets were dressed very nicely and comfortable to play. The action was also very comfortable considering I had been out of practice for some time. Some folks would like a lower action, but this seems consistent with most manufacturers standards of new guitars. It actually has the same measurements as Gibson uses for their new guitars to go to market. The strings are cheap, but not bad. I haven't bothered to swap them out yet.
The humbucker is okay, I like the sound with some fuzz or crunch. The neck is much warmer and great for lead. I have been playing through a 20+ year old Marshall 10w practice amp and headphones.
The little amp is also a fun bonus. It keeps a charge for a good while, but it's not very loud. Good for running some headphones into if you want a decent clean and little bit of gain. My favorite feature is the Bluetooth function. I can connect to my phone and play along with tracks from Spotify (search for drum and bass for guitar practice). Strap, cable, picks, etc are all very basic and that's not a bad thing.
Overall, I would definitely recommend if you want to get started playing or looking for a cheap HSS Strat copy that won't break the bank. I would also imagine this would be an awesome gift for young people to get into playing music. I actually liked this guitar so much in ordered another Donner and will review after a little time.
Top reviews from other countries
Taking a chance on an unknown company can bring joy or sadness. Sometimes it’ll bring plenty of either, and on a rare occasion both. I’m happy to say that Donner is bringing joy with their Standard Series. Though I’ll be honest right off the bat; they saved money in the finish work. What I mean by that is there’s some small (I couldn’t even properly photograph them) blemishes in the wood, and a spot on the upper horn where something hit the finish at the factory (which is photographed). The wood blemishes are all small and what I like to think of as freckles. Personally I like it, a lot. The matching though, for what appears to be a 5-piece body is really, really good. Doing a sunburst on this cheap a guitar is a bold move and I’d say it’s executed better then I’d expect. Besides a few bits that are too small to warrant the cost of a refinish it’s done really well.
Of course the other cost-cutting area was in the fretwork. They’re sharp. Not unplayably so, and to be fair to Donner it’s a lot easier for a customer to file their frets (this should be included in a good professional setup anyway) than it is to say replace a shoddy input jack, or bad pickups. From here things only get better.
It plays, sounds, and feels just like an HSS Strat. It’s definitely on the bright side, and the humbucker is pretty hot but things do sound very good and decidedly Fenderish. You won’t see people plugging their ears if you pull this out at a gig. The neck finish is a beautifully smooth satin, and the rosewood fingerboard is nice and thick. The factory setup is very playable, the tuners hold a tuning quite well and appear to be an area where money was spent, which is smart. The quality of the tuners, bridge, and electronics do seem to be pretty close to instruments costing much more. It even holds it’s tune reasonably well if you use the whammy bar a reasonable amount. It won’t hold if you’re divebombing like it’s a Floyd Rose but if you just add some vibrato here and there and tune up after the song it’s really not bad at all.
It seems pretty clear to me that they knew where to cut cost (small finish and wood blemishes, fretwork) and where to invest (electronics, tuners, great wood grain matching on the front, hardware) and it adds up to an impressively passable guitar for most guitarists. For less then a Squier guitar of any sort you could buy this whole pack and pay for a pro setup and have something just as good. That’s a pretty big win if you ask me.
And this is just personal taste but I like the gold logo and headstock shape. It’s a handsome Strat that doesn’t try to deviate wildly from the classic formula.
The Amp
This thing is small and has no right to sound as good as it does. For me this is the highlight of the pack right here. For a beginner this is way better then the awful Squier amp I started with. It’s not very loud but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! There’s enough volume for a personal jam, an aux-in and headphone out. So not only can you jam with it, it can also be a portable speaker!
The distortion is great too. Flip a switch on the back and you’ll find something that ranges from gritty to gnarly. While there’s not a lot of tonal variety in the amp it’s a very good rock/blues sort of tone and again miles better then what you’d expect from a plastic amp that can fit in a gig bag and charge off your phone’s charger.
It also makes the possibilities kind of endless. Camping, playing in a field under the moonlight, rocking out on a boat or in the backyard, busking in the busy streets, and so on. It’s honestly worth a standalone purchase and is going to stay in my arsenal until the day it dies. Very few pieces of gear get that luxury.
The Case
I wish it opened all the way so it could open up like a book. Instead you have to slide your guitar in and out like you would in a laptop sleeve. The padding is decent though. There’s comfy shoulder straps, and a handle that’s attached to both sides. While it’s slightly less convenient to use then some gig bags there’s a much much smaller chance that a zipper failure would ever occur and if it did your guitar is probably going to stay put. So it does its job quite well.
And let’s put it this way, I’ve had guitars costing 2-3x this price come with no gig-bag or at best one that’s comparable in quality, with the only exception being the Gibson Les Paul Junior I once bought. It cost 4x what this whole rig costs, but the gig bag was one of the nicest I’ve come across. Usually you just get what amounts to a fancy plastic bag with starter guitars so I’m very glad they included a quality gig bag that you can actually use for gigs.
Accessories
Everything here is decent. Honestly the value here seems to exceed the price. Nothing is particularly special but to get everything you’ve got here separately could eat up half the price of the guitar. Throw in a good case, portable amp, and a whole guitar and it does seem to be a great value.
In Conclusion
Interestingly enough this kit actually hits a pretty large audience. For a beginner this is an absolutely perfect kit with everything they’ll need. The guitar is a strat through and through. It plays like one, it looks like one, and it sounds like one. While the fret edges being sharp is a detriment to any player it’s really livable if you’re not a shredder. Not only that but fret filing is super easy to do.
With such a low price tag this guitar also would work well for someone wanting to learn how to do proper setup and maintenance of a guitar. Modding may be a little tricky but everything appears to be sized similarly to a Fender/Squier Strat.
It also fits the working musician very well. As it needs minimal setup work out of the box, sounds good, comes with a battery-powered amp that can be used for busking, and at this price who cares if a drunk dancer knocks it off the side of the stage at a gig?
They called it the Standard Series and to us musicians those words mean something. They mean this is the guitar that you can just grab off the shelf and use in any situation. It may not be the best of the range but it’s going to be good in all cases. Outside the fret edges and the natural flaws of a Strat this does that. Is it better then an American or Mexican Fender? No, but it’ll happily compete with any guitar in its price range and will give some of the slightly more expensive instruments a run for their money.
If it were priced higher I’d probably knock a star off for its sharp frets but at this price and with all that’s included the fact that it’s so usable and that applies to everything included in the kit it just feels wrong to rate it at less then 5 stars.

I have had the guitar for a month now and can tell you it blows your expectations away. Plays perfectly, easy to tune, comes ready to go! It comes with guitar picks of different thickness to try, cord to attach to the amp, a small amp, clip on tuner, extra set of strings, capo, tremolo, Allan keys (not sure what it adjusts), and a soft bag.
The tuner so far is good enough to tune your guitar. Down the road you may want to invest in a better one but to start it is all you need.
The soft bag is good for storage, but I bought a stand for <$30 and keep it there. I am not really transporting my guitar so that isn't an issue.
The picks are good and give you an idea of which ones you may want to buy more of.
The amp is ok at best. It is literally the size of a large hand. I was kind of shocked that it was that small. It is OK and in a pinch works, but I spend around $150 and got a Marshall MG15 amp and I can tell you the sound is a MILLION times better. I would STRONGLY suggest you invest in a good amp. Given the guitar is electric and sound is for the most part amp driven, I would go this route. Search online but the MG15 seemed to be high and above others in the price range and I am glad I got it.
The guitar itself is great. Feels good to hold. The frets are all properly in line. I read that on some cheaper guitars the frets stick out and can hurt your hands and need to be shaved down, but these were perfectly in line. To be honest, not knowing any better, I would say this guitar will last a long time for me, and only if I wanted to spend the money would it be necessary to upgrade, or unless I magically start to play way better!
Strongly recommend this for any beginner. At this price point you are getting great quality and amazing value. If you improve and want to step up, then that is a different story, but if you either just play casually or learn casually or don't really do much more, you get a great guitar that doesn't break the bank.

La relación calidad-precio me parece bastante aceptable. Viene equipada con todo lo necesario para iniciarse.
That said, the components here are definitely all entry level. If you are serious about playing you probably want to replace the tuning heads (as these lose tune rather easily), the strings, probably the cheap plastic nut, and perhaps pickups (though the ones included are pretty good for the price).
The neck on this thing is just amazing for the price, and there's very little buzz (though there is some) coming from the pickups. That is minimized if you use the switch to select positions 2 or 4 where you're blending pickups. This buzzing is present on most entry level guitars and electronics so that's not really a deal breaker.
In terms of initial setup, I noticed right away that the bridge rests flat on the body, and it should be floating. There are several youtube videos on how to properly set up a floating tremolo bridge on a strat, so you'll want to follow one of those (just need a tuner (I'd recommend one of higher precision than what comes in the box) a screwdriver and that's it). I made a slight adjustment to the truss rod in the neck, but you're probably fine without it. Then I adjusted the height of the strings with the saddles (little allen key that comes in the box) so the strings don't buzz against the frets when you're fretting on the low frets. After that I had to adjust all the saddles (with a screwdriver) to fix the intonation of the guitar. (you want to ensure that the octave (12th fret) is also in tune after you tune the open string). Again guides for that are available online.
After all that was done, I now have a strat with a properly floating bridge, that's in tune, and stays in tune when fretting strings.
The downside here, is all of the extra stuff that comes in the box (tuner, extra strings, picks, capo, and the worlds tiniest amp) are kinda garbage... You'll want to get quality strings, better picks, a better constructed capo, and a more precise tuner if you're going to be using this for any length of time. What's included is enough to figure out if you (or a friend/family member) likes the feel of playing a guitar, but you'd be better served with higher quality accessories.
The gig bag is.. alright, it's a basic bag and will let you store your guitar in a closet or something without it collecting dust. If you're really going to be transporting this guitar I'd get something with more padding.
I wouldn't trust the strap... if you're going to be playing standing up I'd get something of higher quality.
After all my bashing of the included accessories though, this guitar, is really a steal for the price you pay. After properly setting it up, it would be a great beginner guitar for the first 2-3 years of learning, until you might consider something 2-3x the price. One other thing I'd strongly recommend you purchase is a proper stand for the guitar, you don't want to have to put it in the bag and take it out every time.
