Tom Cruise once again steps into the shoes of Ethan Hunt, the charismatic and fearless IMF agent, showcasing his dedication to performing jaw-dropping stunts that leave audiences on the edge of their seats. The film's action sequences are undeniably the highlight, with breathtaking helicopter chases, intense rooftop pursuits, and tense hand-to-hand combat scenes that keep the adrenaline pumping throughout.
The plot, while serviceable, doesn't quite match the level of complexity and intrigue seen in some previous installments of the franchise. It's a familiar formula of double-crosses and high-stakes espionage, which, while entertaining, doesn't break much new ground. Some character development could have added depth to the story.
The supporting cast, including Rebecca Ferguson and Henry Cavill, delivers commendable performances, adding some depth to their respective characters. Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames inject humor and camaraderie into the mix, providing some much-needed levity in between the action sequences.
Despite a somewhat formulaic plot, "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" succeeds in delivering the kind of thrilling, high-octane action that fans of the franchise have come to expect. It's a worthy addition to the series, and while it may not be a game-changer, it certainly provides an enjoyable cinematic experience for action enthusiasts.
Fallout is a non-stop thrill ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The action sequences are some of the most impressive I've ever seen in a movie, with jaw-dropping stunts and heart-pumping chases. The helicopter chase scene through the mountains is particularly breathtaking and will leave you in awe of the skill and bravery of the filmmakers.
The supporting cast is also exceptional, with standout performances from Henry Cavill as August Walker, a ruthless CIA agent, and Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, a skilled and cunning agent who proves to be a valuable ally to Ethan. Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames return as Benji and Luther, respectively, providing some much-needed comic relief and support to Ethan.
But what really sets Fallout apart is its expertly crafted plot. The twists and turns are expertly executed, keeping you guessing until the very end. The script is smart and engaging, and the dialogue is sharp and witty. There's never a dull moment in this movie, and it's impossible not to be swept up in the excitement and suspense of the story.
The Blu-ray edition of Fallout features stunning visuals and crisp sound, making for an immersive viewing experience that will make you feel like you're right in the middle of the action. It's a must-see film for action and adventure enthusiasts, and a testament to the enduring appeal of the Mission: Impossible franchise. So, if you're looking for a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, Mission: Impossible - Fallout is the perfect choice.
And the helicopter chase, too. Fun, yes, but it did just go on and on. The whole picture needed to shed about 20, 30 minutes and half a dozen characters. The Paris nightclub would be a place to start. Nothing that happened there needed to be in the movie.
And the jokes are few and far between. All of that said, “Fallout” does deliver on the Mission basics. A ridiculous plot that could easily have been solved if a few people, mostly Cruise, had acted like rational human beings. Some set pieces pursuing various McGuffins. Cars crashing and motorcycles jumping. Aircraft doing things aircraft ought not to do. It’s all there, and it’s all OK. Double, triple crosses and an ally who turns out to be a traitor. Check, check and check.
Henry Cavill….honestly, from the moment he’s brought on, we all say, “Yup! Bad guy! Even got the mustache!” If the mustache were only bushy enough for twirling, the gang could have dispensed with a lot of drama. I am assuming he’s better as Superman; I don’t usually bother with DC Universe movies except the one good Batman (the middle one) and Wonder Woman. Superman is the most boring of all supers, and Cavill is probably just stolid and stoic enough for the job. As a traitorous superspy, he’s just awful. Seriously, he plods from setup to setup with no trace of humor or interest.
The rest of the IMs are fine; we’ve seen all the shtick before, and it’s tried and true. Rebecca Ferguson does what she can with a part that was pretty obviously written in because “we need some women in here”. Ditto Michelle Monaghan, with an even less written bit. Ethan Hunt had a personal life. I do not care. I want to see him jump off a skyscraper, not moping about his ex.
And Alec Baldwin. Shrug. He’s in it.
Now, it is not fair to judge an actor who’s been doing this as long as some of his fans have been alive. But….looking a little puffy there, Tom. Just saying. He does give it his all. Running. So much running. If one held a stopwatch during the Paris bits, I bet there’d be 15-20 minutes of running. He runs well. And he looks a little closer to his real age than maybe he ought to.
Speaking of Paris…. It’s dull. A circuit or two around the Arc de Triomphe, a flash of the Eiffel Tower, and a whole lot of routine streets. London, even more dull, especially since it’s mostly seen in sewers. Ethan, you want to go to Shanghai, Dubai, Tokyo, Seoul! Colorful places full of light and glamor and cool buildings. Paris, everybody does Paris. I won’t bother to criticize what pretty clearly is not Kashmir.
Not that the real Kashmir would be any more photogenic. My point is that the backgrounds are pretty generic. Nits to pick? Again with nukes? It’s always nukes. Or a virus. And you would not be juggling a bocce-ball sized lump of Plutonium. That stuff is astonishingly heavy. You think gold or lead are heavy? McQuarrie must have found a bunch of JJ Abrams left-over lens flares. The London sewers? More flares than fatbergs!
On a scale of Impossible Missions, I’d give this one a solid B, maybe a B-. It’s OK, but Ethan Hunt has done better. Or maybe it’s just too many trips to that well. Between these and Jack Reacher and maybe some more Top Guns, Cruise is a busy, busy man. And when Mission 7 comes along, I expect I’ll catch it.

Fallout is easily one of the best action films I’ve seen. That fight scene in the bathroom is SO damn good, and there were a few points in the film I actually gasped.

Fallout is easily one of the best action films I’ve seen. That fight scene in the bathroom is SO damn good, and there were a few points in the film I actually gasped.
Mission: Impossible.
The one where if actual did watch the 60s TV show, you would know that Jim Phelps would never behave in the way he did here.
Brian DePalmer's Direction is solid and this is a really enjoyable first movie to this ongoing franchise. It does have an extremely unbelievable 3rd act, as a helicopter follows a train into tunnel, but as we will discover these films will continue attempt to make the Impossible seem possible...its in the title after all.
Mission: Impossible 2.
The one where Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, grows his hair, fights alot in slow motion and falls in love with a criminal. Meanwhile some terrorists want to do something bad with a virus.
MI2 is the most stylistically different of the franchise and it is probably not as bad as you remember.
John Woo's Direction is slick in a 90s pop video kinda way.
Mission: Impossible 3.
The where the series falls into its formulaic stride.
Ethan Hunt, once again with short hair but missing his love interest from film 2, has stopped working in the field and has gained a fiance and the form of Julia Meade, played by Michelle Monaghan. He is forced to return to active duty, gets his team together, blah! blah! blah! something about a ruthless arms dealer.
J. J. Abrams directs and humour is sprinkled throughout for flavour. This is now the template for the following movies.
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
Ok, it's all getting a bit samey now, but don't be put off.
Ethan *I think we're on first name terms now* with hair longer than in films 1 and 3, but not as long as 2, is in prison. He is helped to escape by Benj, played by Simon Pegg, who is now the new comedy field agent. The IMF team have to save the world from some nuclear shenanigans. But they have all been wrongfully blamed for the bombing of the Kremlin, making the job very difficult if not impossible.
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
Some of the team return, some don't, with some new faces added whom may or may not be trustworthy. There must be some serious trust issues in the IMF team by now!
Anyhoo! Sean Harris plays the deliciously creepy Solomon Lane the head of SPECTOR, sorry I meant the Syndicate. Lane has dropped out of MI6 to do some sort of Thanos thing.
The good thing is that no matter how silly these movies get, they do seem to improve as the series progresses.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
Some uranium cores go missing in a typical IMF bungle, but mostly because of Ethan Hunt's kind heart. So the team have to retreave them.
Solomon Lane returns as creepy as ever, but this time Ethan must exchange Lane for the uranium or something like that anyway?
At this point the action is so fast and furious *pun intend* that you are on the edge of you seat by the end.
Superman pops up sporting a moustache for some reason?
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning - Part One....light the fuse....
Handlung

Fazit
- - - - - - - - - -
