I randomly started to get mouth/jaw pain at age 30. I finally saw the dentist after 8 years of avoiding and got some fillings done. After that procedure, my mouth started to hurt and I would clench my jaw really bad. Probably also due to stress.....however, I was in so much pain from clenching my jaw at night that during the day I clenched my jaw trying to relieve the pain. I couldn't get an appointment with my dentist for over a month and I didn't want to be taking Tylenol and ibuprofen twice a day due to the pain. I knew that it was very bad for my liver, so I decided to take the matter in my own hands. If you don't have dental insurance, and have bruxism, these are great. It comes with a pack of a few, but I've only needed to do one so far and I'm saving the others for sports for my children or if I need a replacement. I boiled the water and follow the directions and made the mold. It works just fine, I had to trim a little because I have a small mouth but after 3 nights of using it, I wasn't clenching my jaw at night anymore (obviously) and so I wasn't clenching during the day and causing pain. This mouth guard was a life saver! I put it in my mouth every night and have ZERO problems drooling or breathing with it in. It really doesn't bother me what so ever. I was a little skeptical because of the reviews, but even if you screwed up and melted or damaged one of the mouth guards, there are extras just in case. I'm glad I didn't listen to the reviews and went ahead with the purchase. This totally saved my liver from taking over the counter pain medicine daily! I couldn't live like that anymore!

I just barely received this today. It didn't take long to read the instructions and get it molded. I tried a "dry" fit first to see how it felt prior to molding to my teeth. It was comfortable but felt big, of course, from not being molded. It extended all the way to the back of my mouth just barely past my back molar, which is what I wanted. I've been having pain in my molar all the way in the back on my jaw, and I believe it's from clenching/grinding while I sleep. After I molded it it doesn't cover the back molar entirely, due to the approx. 20% shrinkage explained in the instructions. It covers about 1/4 of that molar. I'm hoping that will be enough to offer protection from clenching. I wish after it shrunk it covered all my teeth all the way back. I only give it 3 stars right now because I haven't slept with it in yet, and I'm not sure it will resolve my problem. In addition to that I'm concerned about it not offering full coverage of my teeth.

The instructions were pretty easy to follow. As you read it you get the impression with all the steps and tips that you have some time to do each step, but you really don't. Once the water is boiling, and you remove the pot from the burner, drop the guard in and count to 18 or wait until the walls start to curl then remove it with a large ice cold metal spoon. From that point the process takes about 30 seconds to finish. I tilted the spoon slightly to get the hot water out and carefully put the guard in my mouth. I created a vacuum in my mouth, as the instructions indicated, bit gently, but hard enough to create a tooth indent and pushed the walls on the inside up against the top of my mouth with my tongue. The I pushed my lips and cheeks against the guard to create impressions on the outside. I then dipped it in cold water (not really indicated in the instructions unless remolding) to solidify it. It has a nice tight fit. It still feels a bit bulky around the front of my teeth. It would be noticeable to people that I have a mouth guard in, but that's okay, I'm wearing it to bed, not to work.

Update: I wore this to bed last night. For the first couple of minutes it was comfortable but after that it became annoyingly uncomfortable. It just felt too thick and annoyed my mouth. I had a hard time falling asleep with it, but I eventually did. I think it did help with my tooth pain. I didn't wake up in the middle of the night with a throbbing tooth ache, I actually woke up because my mouth was annoyed with having this guard in it. If I remember correctly the instruction booklet that comes with this has some tips to help adjust for that. I will try them out and see how it goes. All this being said I'd rather have this annoyance than the throbbing tooth. But it would be nice for it to feel comfortable all night long. I'll update again if I'm able to re-mold or adjust it to be comfortable all night long.

My dentist told me to look into night guards since he noticed I have been grinding my teeth where he suggested looking on Amazon. In my mind, just like clothes, there is not really a one size fits all. You have to find a brand that fits your body the closest. I had similar doubts with a night guard where not everyone's mouth is the same and I was fearful of paying too much for a piece of plastic. So, I decided to look at highest rated with a low price. Unfortunately, in this case it's a get what you pay for where this was less than $8 with a case and several spares.

I already had low expectations and unfortunately they came true. I read the instructions and watched the video on their website for how to heat the guard and customize it. Unfortunately, I went through 3 of them to only find out that right from the beginning it was never going to fit. They guard kept falling off where I thought it was something I was doing wrong such as heating too long or not enough. So, off the bat I have three that are failed attempts where I noticed on the third one after heating that it did not even cover my last molar. So, I decided to take out a fourth that was not heated to realize that a not heated one only covered 1/4 of my back molars. So, heating makes it shrink, so obviously it would never fit and would always fall off because it is not even fully covering the top teeth.

Such a disappointment because in all the instructions, it does not even say to try one not heated to make sure it fits, instead of my situation where I did not find that out until after going through three failed attempts thinking it was not covering my back molars where I thought I was overheating.

I just wanted to write this review so that others do not run into the issue I did where I am now have three unusable ones and several unused ones that I can never use because it was not a one size fits all for me. There were alot of 5 star reviews for this, but I guess I just have too many teeth since these were not long enough to cover my back molars.

Unfortunately my Jack Russel somehow got ahold of my $$$$ mouth guard. I my researched and purchased this "Lorious mouthguard" product. Just follow the directions and you will have a less expensive yet affecticve alternative. It is easy to trim away to fit your mouth perfectly. It does not fit as tightly as my dentist made piece, but it works equally as well.

I've bought a few different brands, it never fits perfectly, thus I keep buying and searching. Initial thought was that this product is inferior to most brands, because it felt very hard from the packaging and it shrunk a lot when placed in hot water. It began to stick to the plastic spoon I used to scoop it out and I thought it was a dud.
After pulling it off the spoon, it got stretched and instinctively I decided to pop it in my mouth and try to mold it. ... Surprisingly, this was exactly what I was looking for, it was so thin and flimsy that it fit very comfortably.
I took another and did the same thing to mold it onto my lower teeth. It shrunk as before and I had to struggle a bit to flatten it out and stretch it longer, but now both upper and lower are the most comfortable all all that brands I have used. I made two as I alternate evenings, sometimes upper teeth and somedays lower. So there you have it, five star review.

I'm sure they're great for some people.
They mold nicely and seem pretty comfortable as far as mouthguards go. Very easy to customize for your mouth and nice quality. I was able to fall asleep with it in. But every day I wore it I woke up with a migraine. I tried moulding 3. 2 for the top, then I tried one on the bottom to see if that resolved it - it didn't. Got refunded for the item, but had to go thru a month of migraines.....

If you suffer from migraines - beware. This may trigger them. :(
