Your Robotic HedgehogBefore you can start playing and experimenting with your unique little pet, you have to build it! The kit comes with 172 building pieces to assemble your robotic hedgehog and includes a sound sensor which is located on the circuit board in your pet's head. It's this sensor that enables your hedgehog to move according to your clap commands. Like a real hedgehog, your robotic pet can run and curl up into a ball. Fortunately, though, the sound sensor enables it to listen to and follow your orders rather than immediately curling up when it feels threatened (like a real hedgehog would do). By building your hedgehog from start to finish and getting a good look at all of its components, you will gain experience in the inner mechanical workings that enable the robot to move the way it does. In addition to a crash course in sound sensors, you'll also learn about gears, motors, and LEDs (your hedgehog's eyes light up!). |
The ManualThe full-color, 40-page illustrated manual provides highly detailed step-by-step instructions for building your robotic hedgehog as well as troubleshooting tips and explanations to get your pet working and moving smoothly. But the manual isn't just a set of assembly steps--it also includes some interesting scientific information and fun facts about hedgehogs and bionic robots. |
Nuna, the Tumbling Hedgehog! That's right! Your hedgehog has its very own comic! Embark on an exciting archaeological exploration with a bonus illustrated story that follows Tom and Izzy, two inquisitive young scientists, as they build Nuna the Tumbling Hedgehog while on an excursion to the Temple of the Gaaa! |
Operating Modes
|
|
|
|
---|---|---|---|
Mode 1: Roll backward and sleepYour hedgehog is in Mode 1 when its eyes are glowing orange and green. In this mode, your hedgehog can accept the following commands:
|
Mode 2: Multiple backward rollsYour hedgehog is in Mode 2 when its eyes are glowing green. In this mode, your hedgehog will roll up to five times in a row, depending on how many times you clap. Clap once, it'll tumble once; clap twice, it'll tumble twice; all the way up to five times! |
Mode 3: Applauding for a backward rollYour hedgehog is in Mode 3 when its eyes are glowing orange. In this mode, your hedgehog wants encouragement to put on a show! Keep clapping to cheer your pet on as it completes a roll. Don't stop clapping before the trick is complete! Otherwise it'll just stretch out and start walking, and the show will be over before it begins! |

I would like to see more explanation about the design and how everything works with just a forward and reverse of the motor. It may help to determine what would cause certain problems.
REVISED: I finally got it to work. It needs a smooth floor and will flip on its side on a rug. I think it just took a while for the gears to turn smoothly.
UPDATE: Even after assembly, he hedgehog falls apart. Parts don't snap into place -- they are lose and fall out. Currently, without one tiny pin, a leg is lost. A plastic strip that stretches when the hedgehog curls up has snapped. This is from one day of regular use. And It NEVER flipped over. It is assembled 100% correctly. If anyone reading reading this just thinks those of us who struggled with it are dumb or have dumb kids, check yourself please. The thing is poor quality.
note: the first package they sent the battery pack was damaged. they sent a new product out in days. thank you for your fast response.

She is 8y old
Daddy had to help, but they had fun.
You need to have a very wake up child, to build it alone, or older.
Downside ?
It work n all
But the kid got desinterest quickly once its over
Take your time and be sure to follow the instructions carefully.
Tip: I used nail clippers to cut off the extra plastic pieces when I detached them.
One small piece was broken but the support team sent a replacement with no issues and it got here fast.
Awesome toy
