Product Description

Since Osprey was founded in 1974, every single product design has passed through the hands of owner and founder Mike Pfotenhauer, who created his first backpack at age 16. In Santa Cruz, California, the young entrepreneur opened a retail shop in the front of his rental house where backpackers and travelers came for custom-fit, made-to-order packs constructed over several days by Mike himself. As the demand for the great-fitting packs increased, Osprey found itself relocating to its current home in Southwest Colorado. Today, Osprey is a melting pot of diverse personalities, backgrounds and abilities. All share the common belief that adventure is open to everyone and found anywhere.

Bought my hubby this pack and he loves it. Medium length, He is 5'9 1/2"". He did try one on in a local store before ordering online. When adjusted properly, he hardly notices that he is carrying the pack. The breathable back plate is a nice feature. We hiking 10 miles every week and it is holding up very well.

Excellent backpack. I used this for two weeks on the Camino de Santiago. More than enough room to carry what I needed. Fits easily in the airline overhead. Very light and comfortable even after 6 hours of walking. The frame kept me cool on the hot days. Water bottle easily accessible on the side.

Has a mesh back, helps for breath ability, is light and sit on the hips well to take strain off the shoulders. The top pouch is removable. It’s a good pack. Two things would make it better. Utility pouches on the waist belt and there are big open pockets along the side that would benefit from zippers. The side pouches were good, stowed a medium gatoraid And it did not fall out. I’d just be a little more comfortable if you could seal off those pockets.

I purchased two of these packs for a backpacking and climbing trip I took my sons on. I made a mistake in selecting this particular pack because while we tried to pack very light with most of our gear, adding climbing gear made them heavy.

The Good:
- The packs were well made and light weight.
- The top lid was helpful and made sense in its design.
- The access to the water bottles on the side was easy and well designed.
- The trekking pole storage was clever and useful when hiking on trails.
- The access pockets on the back side were handy and also well designed.

The Bad:
- My boys carried packs that weighed 45+ lbs. I don't think that the straps nor the waist belt were padded enough to support this weight.
- While the pack doesn't have a traditional internal frame there is some plastic near the bottom of the pack right below the hip-belt. Both my boys complained about it rubbing them. Over the course of several days in the back country with heavy packs this left bruises.

My review is based on my experience with these packs. I would not buy them again if I were going to do a similar trip. I just don't think they're beefy enough for type of trip and weight being carried. I tried to save 3-4lbs for these boys and left them uncomfortable and bruised instead. I should have purchased a more beefy and larger internal frame pack.

That being said, there is a lot about this design that is very cool. These packs will be great for a 2-3 day trip where minimal gear is required and the weight can be kept under 30 lbs.

I've done a couple trips with this pack so far this summer and it's been great for two and three nights. My only complaint is that the chest strap broke on the first use without much tension on it.

I'm 5' 8", 180lbs with a 19-inch torso, and the medium-sized pack fit way too small. Even with all the straps fully extended, I could barely fit my arms through the shoulder straps. Felt like I was wearing a Dora the Explorer kiddie backpack.

(I wish these backpack companies could provide better size/fit info on their websites.)

Returned the item for something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leggerissimo, molto comodo e capiente!

Gran bel prodotto

Just walked the great glen way with this bag and it was brilliant. A lot lighter than my old lowe alpine bag and a lot more comfortable. Be aware this is a very basic bag. There are no hip belt pockets and no extra zips to allow access to stuff deep inside however the stretch pockets on the outside are huge. The main selling point is the weight and it is very light in fact 600g lighter than my old bag and it made a huge difference! I honestly have no idea why anybody walking long distances would buy anything else unless it was more expensive and lighter

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfetto per alte vie
