The FRIENDS one is the only design where the flap doesn’t provide a platform to build/grow the Christmas scene. I hope they change this design for the future.     I bought this with the intention of getting my daughter interested in Legos. She's six and I really think there are a lot of benefits to Lego kits -- problem solving, following directions, fine motor skills and keeping kids off of tablets and computers, to name a few. This Advent calendar is such a great introduction because every day is a new "kit" to be built. Nothing is overly complex or time consuming so its a good introduction to working with lego kits and pieces. The only problems I've had is that sometimes the patterns aren't very clear and/or easy to follow. Some of these things I truly have no idea what it is supposed to be. Also, literally every single day has come with extra pieces. This is good in some ways but confusing for a six year old who is trying to follow visual instructions. Each item has a opening on top so you can make each of these an ornament for the tree if you wish, my daughter wants to play with them though. So much more interesting and fun as an Advent calendar! Instead of just pulling out an already made toy for the day, we look forward to spending a few minutes putting each kit together each day and than playing with the toy. Plus I now know that she likes Legos and is capable of putting them together so I've bought her a few more kits for Christmas.

    Each daily set has a little hook bar piece to tie a string or attach an ornament hook to. We bought a $3 mini tree from the Target bullseye area and hung all the Lego ornaments on it. The daily sets are fun and creative, easy to build, each door flap has a picture of the final item. Most days have an extra piece in case one is lost. There are lots of unique shaped, special pieces in this calendar, definitely worth the money.

    This is the best advent calendar if your kid loves to build with legos. My daughter is so excited every morning to build her next ornament and the price point is well worth it. Each packet comes with a few extra pieces and of course, once the holidays are over, you can use these as part of your lego collection as the pieces are quite general and can be used with any type of build.

    The only thing that can be a bit confusing is that the calendar itself, is not in order. But I am assuming that helps with the fun of it all. Also, in case you were wondering, when you open each day, the directions on how to make each one is on the inside flap.

    I highly recommend getting this advent calendar as a fun way to kick off your holidays.
