The electric version is specified as 15 amps, capable of handling limb diameters of 1.57”, or 39mm...
It will not handle material that size.
Not even close. If you trim all the small branches off, it will handle 3/4” limbs, IF they are fed slowly. Very... very.... VERY... slowly. Count on it taking 2-3 times the length of time it takes to trim the limbs to feed them into this.
If you have ever owned any kind of commercial grade tool you will probably hate this the second you feed so much as a twig into it.
HOWEVER... it has one effective use. I can’t believe this isn’t widely understood even by the manufacturer. (These all come from the same place but with different plastic.) If you tape cardboard in the shape of a hopper around the feeder opening it works very well for leaves. You just fill the hopper with leaves and pack it in with the ‘push paddle’.
But it is not a real chipper.
Another issue I had was the directions and manual that came with it. The manual had items listed incorrectly with their corresponding numbers and the directions were terrible. Fortunately the build was pretty easy so I didn't have an issue putting it together myself, but my point was the directions were certainly no help.
As for the product itself, it's built pretty cheap with mostly cheap plastic, but you get what you pay for. There's a reason why it's the cheapest price of its kind. I also think a 15 amp machine should come with a 3 prong plug so it can be grounded. Not a huge deal, but it does add a slight element of danger. I'm guessing it was made overseas so this isn't surprising. Also, it doesn't chip/shred a 1.5" diameter branch. Maybe if you babied it and took 5 minutes to guide the branch through it could do 1.5", but it isn't doing it without some manipulation. I pretty much figured this would be the case before I bought the machine so I'm not overly upset about it.
It handles 1" and less branches well, but it's best to remove any side twigs on the branches and it's also best to find as straight of branches as you can. I mostly bought it for 1" or less straight-ish branches anyway so I'm fine with it. Finally, I'm actually pretty impressed with the chips/mulch that it puts out. The chips come out small and even sized. I bought it to chip branches to put in compost and for mulching so the quality of chips and mulch that it produces is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. All and all you get what you pay for. Don't expect to grind big branches or logs, but it's good for most little branches and twigs. I'm guessing I will have to replace the blade sooner than I'd want, but again, set your expectations realistically. The shipping was pretty fast. I would recommend this product as long as you go into it with realistic expectations.

Almost if something fits in it it will grind it for you, but for big woods, you must be a bit patient and feed it slowly.
