Battery is fine- the dirty water tank filled before the battery got low. The thing started running different and I didn’t know why until I saw dirty water being left behind. I wish that was bigger. BUT that was when I was cleaning the kitchen, dining room and two bathrooms.
Typically I’m just doing one room and it’s fine. My 1 year old daughter drops food on the floor and this picks it up and mops great. Sometimes the food is too big but I just push it in a pile to the side and pick it up when done. My floor is no longer sticky!!!! I just used water the first few times, and it still worked great.
It’s true this doesn’t get as close to the walls (away by about and inch). That was fine with me because I expected this would be an after-dinner clean up tool rather than something you’d use for a whole house deep clean. But honestly, It’s Saturday and instead of getting prepped for a big clean, the perimeter wasn’t that dirty because I’d been actually mopping/sweeping with this through the week. So on my “deep clean” day, a deep clean wasn’t necessary! I just did a quick pass with this and went outside to play.
If you have to clean up small messes throughout the week this is the tool. It’s one swipe rather than running around with a dry mop then with a wet pad - and does a better job. That’s a winner for me!
I liked idea of having same batteries for everything, liked view and ergonomics. Performance is not bad.
Why 1 star ? Simple to make people aware of issues I faced.
At first died FloorMate (poor design and quality near ball bearing holding brush), started to make terrible noise, started to heat at one side and smelt like burnt plastic.
Next was Blade Max, same issue, got hair into ballbearing on feed belt side.
That was confusing, but support was quick and I got replacements quite soon. Next died Spot Cleaner (well, not died but started to leak solution). I decided to skip support for that, opened it and found hose put on plastic tube without any fixture, put it back and secured with nylon ties.
After some time battery of Blade Max died and brush started to make some noises, not failed fully, but was close. Support sent me new unit, so I got new battery and brush.
And guess what ? Week ago Blade Max brush failed again, same issue, ball bearing due to constructive issue got hair in, started to heat and destroyed plastic housing around it. But this time support is slow and not responsible, have to bug them twice a week.
So... In about 2 years I got 6 failures for 3 items and definitely can't call that normal. I use them 1 time a week or less, in small 2 bed/2 bath appartment.
And last thing, concentrate I was buying all time for hard floor, always was fine, but last one gets lot of foam and doesn't clean as good as it did before... That were not top quality things from the beginning, but hell why to make it even worse??? Never again, sorry Hoover, I tried, but no, I lost hope.
I ran on ECO since it felt like that was plenty of power and I took my time and double and triple passed with short HIGH power bursts sections just to make sure I got everything extra clean and I completed the house in about 30 mins with 2 of 4 lights remaining on the battery. I emptied the tank once mid-clean and the water color was not something that reflects well on the swiffer haha. Overall the work was significantly easier and the floors were visibly cleaner than before AND I didn't have to sweep/vacuum the flooring prior to mopping since this thing picks it all up in one motion. I love that instead of having to press down and scrub with a manual mop that all I have to do is hit a button to bump up to high and just run over the spot with no additional exertion and I can annihilate any grime and pick up any random bits of food or dirt.
Maintenance and cleaning for me was no issue as disassembling and rinsing the cover and roller was quite simple and the tank comes apart easy with a design that doesn't seem to give many places for grime to wedge inside. I noticed the self clean doesn't really seem to change anything visibly but it probably helps internally so I plan to run that process twice with each run.
I only wish there were a slightly more automatic self cleaning/maintenance/charging system for people like my grandparents who are not as nimble as I am to take the mop apart and rinse the parts off and for those not as technologically/mechanically savvy. A dock that cleans and charges just by placing the mop inside would be an instant win for many people.
As a side note: I had an idea to prevent washing hair and other bits of stuff down the drain. I am going to try pouring the tank water into a cheap coffee filter and then just tossing that.
