The build is solid, and I don't imagine I'll ever have a problem with it. If there's ever a problem with the fan, it looks like it's easily replaceable.
The filters aren't that great. The fan does the job though and I've got it near a window on my workbench. I'm going to find better filters for it, in case I want to solder without the window open.
Definitely worth the price. Health and safety are number 1.
This fan is very small in size, so fitting it on your workbench shouldn’t be a problem. It does work very well, but you will want to place it fairly close to your work for maximum effectiveness.
As we are moving into the rainy season here in the PNW, having windows open will not really be an option any longer, so this exhaust fan will be crucial in allowing me to continue to tinker.
Comes with a few extra charcoal filters as well.
Thant being said, it’s not a HEPA filter. If you decide to stir a container of flux with a hot soldering iron you’re still probably going to choke out. Quick jobs might be fine but you’re still not going to be able to work for extended periods of time in a closed room without some sort of ventilation.
It’s built solid and has a bit of weight, so it doesn’t knock over easily. The housing is painted metal and contains a very capable fan. I have no complaints about the build quality or efficiency.
The fan isn’t loud but it’s not quiet either. You could still easily hold a conversation with it on. Headphones seem to mask the sound quite nicely but, to me, it isn’t obnoxiously loud when considering what it is.
A filter comes preinstalled with one spare in the box. The carbon filter fits snugly but replacing it is easy. I found a five pack of replacement Kotto carbon filters for $12.99 on Amazon with Prime shipping.
I’m going to build a HEPA fume extractor, but this will work until then. I’ll keep it around even after because it will still be a great tool if I need something portable.
The five star review isn’t because it works like an industrial fume extractor. It’s because I think it’s a great value for the money and I haven’t been able to find anything that I would consider a flaw.
Thanks for your time.

I was expecting a 12" fan so when tracking indicated it had been left in the mailbox I knew something was amiss.
As I'm certain the proper description must include, this unit is only 5" square x3" (plus a 1" handle on top) looks like a 48" power cord and a small rocker switch in the side of the casing.
Expecting to return it, I gave it a try and to my surprise it does a satisfactory job of clearing the solder / flux smoke.
I wouldn't call it particularly quiet by any means, but for the price and considering that if it's within about a 10" radius of the work being done, nothing seems to escape it and although the filter media is quite simple, it is obviously catching at least some of the nastiness as indicated by the discoloration of the filter after only a couple hrs use.
Cheers.
The fan could be a little quieter but it is in no way loud. My biggest issue is that the power cable is a little short and barely reaches my floor, albeit I so have a kind of high table I work on.
I would recommend to the manufacturer to increase the cable length and it would also be nice if it had an adjustable speed. Other than that, I am so far happy with the product.
