WISH I HAD PURCHASED SOONER!
This is my fourth surgery! The first three I had to use 2 disposable bags tied tightly in a knot then taped so that no water would get in. And it still got in! It was quite a process and very time consuming. This product is GREAT!!!!! It takes seconds to put on and you're good to go. Very durable, No water leaks ever! And, it is large enough that you can move your hand around freely without feeling trapped. When washing, the plastic is extremely soft and feels good on your skin. It takes seconds to remove and dries quickly. One thing though, it does become snug after a 20 to 30 min. shower. (see pic) But, this is meant to be put on your lower arm and I'm small so I had to push it up on my bicep which made it tighter (but it was still a comfortable fit). Even with snugness, this product far outweighs the hassle when attempting to keep it dry another way. You actually forget you have it on and can do everything you need to! I highly recommend this quality product!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best $14 I Ever Spent
Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2023
I broke my right wrist and arm, falling down a mountain trail while hiking. The cast cannot get wet, and the doc anticipated 12 weeks with it on. I am very frugal, so thought of plastic garbage bags to enclose my arm while showering, or wrapping the cast in saran wrap. Both kind of difficult to get onto my right arm cast, with my left hand! I saw this cast protector online, and thought "okay, I'll give it a try but it will probably leak or be impossible to get on by myself!" Nope. It slides right on easily over my cast and it does not leak. It is amazing. Best $14 I ever spent! The seal at the top of your arm is tight (very tight) and in the 5 weeks that I've been using it - no leaks. It's flexible, easy to hold the grab bar or shampoo bottle thru the thick plastic and every single time, my arm and cast come out of it nice and dry. Much easier than wrapping it anew each time with sticky plastic wrap or garbage bags & duct tape. If you have a cast, or a limb, you need to keep dry, this is a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, but the price seems to keep increasing as positive reviews are added...
Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2020
After a recent run-in with the trail in the Coronado National Forest (yes, the trail won), I'll be living in a short-arm cast for the next few weeks; so I needed a way to keep my arm dry while in the shower, etc. Given the relative bargain price ($9.26 with tax and free shipping with Prime), compared to similar cast protectors, I wasn't sure what to expect from this one; however, I've been pleasantly surprised. Rest assured that this device is made of extremely durable material (which the seller describes as "surgical rubber") and that the silicone bladder/seal affords water-tight protection for your arm, as advertised (a huge improvement over the plastic bag and rubber band that I was using, with um, marginal success). Length is 21" from the silicone bladder to distal end of the hand piece (see attached picture, which was taken after it had been used, daily, for one month).

I noted in other reviews that some have shared that this is "not 100% waterproof". I found that it is, if applied correctly. For me, the secret to ensuring that the cover seals properly is to place it completely over the cast and configure the silicone bladder so that the seal is a convex shape (see 1st attachment), rather than positioned in a concave configuration (see 3rd attachment), which could allow water to run into the cover. Just pull down slightly on the cover after you've pulled it over the cast and this will result in a convex "flange" around your arm and above the cast, as shown. Additionally, you can pull a sock over your cast to ensure that the fiberglass doesn't tear the rubber cover. I made a protective cover for my cast, out of a sock, which saved my clothing, furniture, steering wheel, etc. There are commercial options available for around $20 or you can sacrifice a pair of socks (or use that single sock whose mate was eaten by the dryer) and some "Fray Check".

As to the comment about this being "clumsy"... (?!!!!) What can I say? You're in a cast and/or you just need a way to keep your arm dry; so yes, that's going to be inconvenient... I recommend this cover as a way to provide a water-tight seal of the affected area!

Update 3/13/20: Initially, I ordered this cast protector because of it's low price (as previously noted). While I found it to be a well-made and effective product, I suggest that potential buyers shop around given the fact that the price has nearly doubled (from $8.98 to $16.98 in less than six weeks) since I purchased it in early February 2020. A quick review finds that there are less expensive alternatives of similar design out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working well protecting my finger surgery
Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2023
Just had a screw put in my finger due to several basketball hits. After 24 hours I could shower. I ordered the arm cast cover. It works great. It is easy to insert my bandaged hand without hurting, I have used it four times this week. Perfect seal on the arm. No leaks of water. Easy off also. Good product.
