Open swab sleeve 1 inch; remove without touching bristles. Save sleeve. Firmly roll swab between dog’s cheek and gums for 15 seconds per swab. Insert swab handle in carton hole and air dry for 5 min. Repeat for second swab. Activate kit and fill in info. Write Activation Code Number on back of Sample ID Sticker. Reinsert dry swabs into protective sleeve. DO NOT reseal sleeve. Place swabs into the carton; seal. A pre-paid shipping label is on the carton. Send in the kit. Results in ~2-3 weeks.

I originally got the cheaper kit and had decided to do the $40 upgrade made it a total cost of around $120 , after going through the process and got the results for our 1 dog we decided it definitely seems accurate and all the extra tests are worth it. Prime day came and the premium was on sale for $109 so I got the other one for my other dog and my mom even ordered 2 for her dogs so I will update my review if any issues with the othersIf you have a puppy and you are curious about how many pounds will weigh when older, if it will shed and so much more this can definitely take the guessing out of it!!

The test report was very detailed and had a lot of information. I just wish they sent a print out of the report. so that disappointed me. Not everyone has use of a computer to look up the results. I would have appreciated a hard copy with the main results. Not everyone has a printer either. But the results seemed very thorough and contained a lot of information. I was debating buying this test kit or another one which cost a little more, but I am very satisfied with the results of this one and don't regret it.

The cost is lower than Embark, yes it takes longer for results to come in but very much worth the wait. So much more specific. Example ~ I had a mix breed I did Wisdom & Embark on. Embark gave 4 main breeds with his Super mutt percentage being 5 additional breeds for 8 total. Wisdom found 19 breeds and could give percentage of what Emark said they couldn’t. The siblings & parent heritage cool too with Embark.

Easy to use. Results seem very accurate to me. I tested a shelter puppy I adopted. They guessed she was German Shepherd and Labrador retriever mix.

Results (here’s the top 4 but she had 9 breeds total):
26% Rottweiler
26% Doberman pincher
26% German Shepherd
13% Labrador retriever

She looks just like that mix and it makes total sense. While I like all those dogs, I doubt I would have gotten a full blood Rottweiler or Doberman. But the mix is a super sweet, affectionate, happy, cuddly, dog and people living girl. :). I have noticed more alert barking as she’s gotten older (she’s almost 6 months old as I write this), but she’s not an incessant annoying barker. She’s just perfect!

Anyway, I sent off the results for Embark. Those of you researching the two, I haven’t had my results from embark to talk about that, but I can tell you they make it super easy to share the results. You can download multiple reports and even click share. No way to export your report from Wisdompanel. If accuracy is assumed to be similar between the two, I would pay the little bit extra for embark. I want my own personal copy in her files offline rather than stored on their website. Plus it’s nice to share with friends and family.

Her coloring (including markings and patterns), length of coat, fur type, shape of ears, length of nose, eye color _ every characteristic was spot on. My dog is a mixed breed, and is pretty unusual looking (but absolutely beautiful, of course), and they got it right. Friends and family had made guesses as to her lineage, and the test delivered some definite surprises.
