Can this be used on bare feet?

Yes, the bristles are strong yet comfortable enough to use on bare feet.

How is the scrubber secured in place and can it be mounted?

This scrubber is not mounted; it's designed for travel. Stand on it with both feet, kicking one foot at a time through the bristles. Your weight keeps it in place. For stability, stand near a sturdy object like a wall and use your hand for support.

How sturdy is it? Can it be left outdoors

Our boot scrubber is very sturdy. It can comfortably fit up to size 13 boots or shoes and withstand at least 250 pounds / 113 kilograms without breaking. The composite plastic materials are waterproof and can safely be left outdoors all year round.

Does this scrub only the soles of boots or can it scrub up the sides too?

This scrubber is meant to clean the bottom and edges of your boot or shoe soles. For scrubbing up the sides of your boots we recommend our more industrial Extra Wide Boot Scrubber model (see product table below).

Works great and doesn't scratch our boots!
I purchased this for our boots to remove snow and salt before coming inside. I chose this product because I wanted a boot scrubber that I could leave outside the front door and not have to shake it off every time we wanted to use it. This boot scrubber has open spaces between each scrubber brush and roller, so snow/ice/salt can fall through and not collect on top of it. I also wanted a scrubber that didn't come up very far on the sides of the boots, because I was worried that the boots would get scratched. This scrubber works great for removing debris from the bottom of our boots, and doesn't scratch the sides. I placed it outside our front door at about a 45 degree angle to use as a quick boot scrubber before coming into the mud room. It works great, and haven't had any issues so far with snow collecting on top of it while placed outside. I attached pictures for measurements and so that the height of the side scrubbers can be better visualized.

Being in Florida we don't have much mud but we do have sand and this works very well for getting the sand off most shoes. I do have 1 pair of shoes that have a deeper area between the front and heel that the bristles aren't quite long enough to reach and the depth of the side bristles aren't high enough to get any sand that might be farther up the shoe than what's just around the sole, so for that reason I gave it only 4 stars. But otherwise, it's sturdy and works well. Not sure how it would do with mud or clay but would suspect it would clog up quickly and need to be hosed off frequently. I do like that it's entirely made of plastic so no rusting parts.
