Observations: Lots of reviews on this item, so I'm going to skip over what everyone else has already said, and discuss one issue which I discovered during first use, that the key lock mechanism does not appear to be very solid (lots of play). My first test was to elongate some mis-drilled holes in a tool rack, using 1/8 carbide drill bits (both items listed below). The holes I was elongating was 5/16" in diameter, and I opened the slot about 1/4". I used speed 3 for most of the grinding, and as you can see from the after pile of steel dust, it was very effective. When I first tightened the collett with the wrench, I noticed that the lock mechanism had a lot of play. My first thought was that it was plastic, and I would probably break it, so I tightened it carefully.
Disassembly Details: I decided to open up the Wen and investigate the details. There are a total of eight screws, and two are under the label, so you'll need to cut away the label (WARNING: this probably will VOID your warranty). The orange trays are Horusdy Silicone, and worked well to hold the tool during disassembly. I found that the shaft is supported by a small bearing right behind the threaded shaft area. The lock mechanism is a brass piece pressed onto the shaft. There is an aluminum button that is shifted by the black lock button. I was not able to easily determine how to disassembly the lock button, so that is as far as I got. I am satisfied that the interface for the lock is aluminum into brass, so it should be okay, although I did notice some damage to the brass portion (but it still locks sufficiently). Upon reassembly, I applied thread locking compound (Loctite 242, blue) to the set screw (which was loose during disassembly).
Internal Details: I also looked at the details of the Lithium Ion battery pack and found it is a 2-cell, with a total capacity of 900 mAh, consisting of two 14650 cells. The industry standard cell for flashlights is the 18650, at a minimum capacity of 2300 mAh, so this is a pretty low capacity setup. Battery pack was marked SixPack Technology, with a manufacture date of 2019.12.15 (Wen tool was 03/2020). There is also a small black wire near the pack, that is a thermometer to measure the pack temperature, presumably to shutdown the tool if the battery gets too hot.
Pros: Lithium powered, 5 speed settings, LED light,
Cons: Lock mechanism has some play, which I'm concerned might eventually fail.
Conclusion: The Wen 23072 appears to be end of life, and also appears to be a rebranded version of the EnerTwist. The Wen (or the EnerTwist) appear to be a decent setup for a rotary tool. I am rating this one 5-stars based on value for cost paid (EnerTwist is $32).

Multi speed works well
It appears to me, the quality control of these items is very poor. Wherever they are made, they are not being checked. I would not doubt if many of these are defective and sellers just buy the whole lot of them and dump them in the marketplace where they can hopefully sell a few among the heaps of defective ones. I should not have to go through THREE kits just to find one working kit! But as usual, Amazon came to the rescue (again and again) and made sure I was satisfied.
About the kit: Comes with some very small bits and some sanders. These were barely useful to me and I ended up buying my own stainless steel bits specific to my needs. The bits and sanders the kit comes with may work for really small projects like refining or working on small models or pieces of jewelry but that's about it. The motor of the device is strong and even working on a larger model that I am doing, it has more than enough power. It has a roller wheel that you can slowly adjust to increase the speed of the drill as well. Even on my project, sanding resins and refining cast forms, I only have to use a speed level of 1.5 to 2. I have never had to rev it up to the 3 setting. The flex shaft seems to be holding up so far. One thing you should be aware of is that you should not tighten down the collars on these too tight. You want to tighten them enough to keep the bits snug so they don't loosen and fly out but you don't want to tighten them so much that you strip the interior. I was very careful, having had my other Dremel for more than 20 years, and I still have it. Incidently, I ended up buying a replacement part for my Dremel so now I have both tools to work with.
I would have given five stars for this item if I had received a fully functioning intact kit to begin with. I didn't expect miracles out of this less expensive device but I did expect quality control and an item that worked.

I was about to pay the big price for the big brand and then came Covid19, temporary job loss and confinement... Still needed the tool for some restauration project, I went for this one. Feels like very good quality, good quality plastic. Very silent, extension works perfectly. For those complaining about extension overheating or breaking: Respect the curve angle, lube it properly and you won't have any problems. This entire kit is almost the price of the big brand's extension only so choice is easy to make! Go for it, you'll love it!
