Product Description

The Aqueon Pro Heaters are built with a durable, non-corrosive shell for strength and even heat distribution. They have electronic thermostats for accurate temperature settings and safety. LED power indicator light turns red when unit is heating and green when set at the selected temperature. Can be used for freshwater or saltwater fish tanks. Can be positioned horizontally or vertically (preferred method).

Bought 100 w for my 20 gal in December of 2016. It worked fine until today (April 2023). I guess it's hard to ask for something to work longer than that.Took one star off because it always bothered me that it's hard to read temperature setting numbers on the top and the actual water temperature never matched the number set on the heater.

Got this heater in December when it got colder for our turtle’s 65 gallon tank. It works great! We got the 100 W version (we only fill the tank about halfway with about 30 gallons). It took a while to heat the tank, but it did reach - and maintain - a comfortable temperature of 72 degrees. We confirmed this with a thermal gun and our exterior tank thermometer.

You don’t have to stick to 72 either; the heater let’s you adjust it to a wide range of temperatures. You just set it and forget it. The only thing you’ll need to check on is to make sure it is fully submerged; it’s a fire hazard if the water level is below the heater (as made evident in other reviews).

Our turtle absolutely loves it too. When he’s not swimming around or basking, he hovers over the heater and enjoys the heat it gives off. Great product overall.

These are reliable heaters. I use two for my 20 gallon aquarium along with an Inkbird ITC-306T controller. That way if one heater fails the other will keep the tank at temperature while the Inkbird protects against overheating. One of the Aqueon heaters stopped heating after 8 years while the other is still going strong after 12 years of continuous use (and the replacement after 4 years). This exceeds my expectation for aquarium heater reliability. I also appreciate the thermal shutoff feature in case for whatever reason the heater is not submerged it does not become a fire hazard.

As all the other reviews say this is very good. I got one after checking it out at a local store (petsmart). It costs about half the price here. Any who, works as advertised. Drop it into your tank (all the way). Set the temp. And forget.

I was a little concerned that the 100w one wouldnt bring the tank (29gal) up to temp, its normally 60-65 in the house and I wanted the tank temp closer to 75 but one night in the tank and the little light is green now so its up to temp and good to go.

Edit:Bought this in 11/2011, its now 7/2012. Working great. Upgraded to a 75 gallon tank. This still keeps the tank temperature in check even though, i think, 100w is below the recommend wattage for such a large tank. The house sits around 60-65 still. I'll update again in the winter.

I have owned many heaters, and this could be the nicest heater I have seen or used. The reason I say "could be" because I have only been using it a few days, but my first impressions are very high.

First impressions are:
* Comes in nice packaging.
* Feels like a well constructed and designed heater. Feels solid, not heavy.
* It is not glass, so no worries about accidental cracks when working on the tank.
* Thermostat is very accurate.
* Light is always on to let you know the heater has power. GREEN for standby, RED for heating.

The heater I was using stopped holding the temp at a steady 80 degrees F after about 5 years of 24x7 use in my 20 gallon long. Time for a new one... I removed the new Aqueon Pro 100 heater which was well packaged, gave it a rinse, attached the two suction cup clips, set the thermostat to 80, stuck it in the tank (it actually stayed where I put it), and plugged it in. The tank warmed to 79.5 and has been there ever since. Usually, I find heaters require three or four adjustments to get it dialed in. Not this one, and that was a nice surprise.

I have to say that with all of the different heaters I have owned, I have never experienced a heater so accurate and easy to use. Since the heater is made of black thermal plastic (except the dark blue temp knob) it is easy to hide behind a plant or ornament. Who wants to see a big ugly heater tube in their beautiful tank. I have it behind a plant and I can see the green/red light through the plant but not the heater. I love it.

If this heater continues to perform at this level, I will have no problem giving this heater a 5 STAR review, and will purchase them again for my other tanks.

I used to be loyal to this particular heater.. bought it once in a store and twice off amazon over the years. First timr i bought from a physical store, the thibgs worked great and lasted years. The first time i bought it off amazon, i had it for a year before it literally imploded in my tank. It worked great all year, then one day i hear a funny loud electric sound from my red slider set up and smelled burnt plastic. I quickly hit the circuit breaker and found that the heater looked like it melted in on itself where the adjustment is for the temperature. I quickly checked on my turtles to make sure they were ok. It was a scary experience. I thought maybe since it didn't last nearly as long as the 1st that it must've been defected. It had worked so well before so i gave it another shot and bought a replacement. After 2 years, i notice it is no longer working. The light is on and its getting power but it wasn't heating the tank. So i tried a different heater off of amazon and it's super inconsistent CRAP. I don't know if i should chance it again w this heater. It works great when it does but that defect and short lifespan AND now its gone up in price as well? (Pretty sure this thing was about $25 when i purchased it) just not sure if this is worth it.
