For some reason I've become addicted to adding lemon juice and the zest to most everything I'm eating these days, from soups, salads to some desserts. I was looking for a zester and decided on the OXO brand and have not been sorry. OXO is the hands down winner of many of the product tests on America's Test Kitchen and for good reason. They manufacture a good product at a reasonable price.

The handle grip is firm, there is a non skid resting butt on top and the cutting surface is sharp. This gadget is excellent for citrus, hard cheese, garlic and I've even used mine to make tiny chocolate curls for the top of desserts and coffee.

Use your imagination - this is a great tool

Why did I need a zester? Why did I need such a big one? Because I was using the wrong tool for the job and it was not successful! At first, I thought this one was almost TOO big. Now I only want to use this product and have even found myself staring at citrus in the grocery aisle when I don't even need any! This is an amazing tool. My zested stopped zesting. This time of year I use lemons and,Inez frequently, and I need a zester that works. This zester has sharp stainless steel blades, and it is very easy to use. I used it for a recipe with lemons, and I got more zest than normal. I also zest cheese frequently, and that is a good thing.

Love the way it is curved for easy grip or to rest on a container when using. There is no crevices to harbor debris. Gave it 4 stars only because part of it is white material which immediately gets discolored with orange or citrus zest. However no regrets about the purchase. I have looked at many and bought others. OK, this is hands down the VERY BEST ZESTER/GRATER I have ever owned. This is replacing a microplane zester that finally bit the dust. This thing is incredibly sharp and grates parmesan cheese or zests citrus fruits with complete ease. I own several other OXO Good Grips products that are also of very high quality, so it was not surprising that this product was so great. Love the non-slip handle and it easily stands up while you are zesting and grating and doesn't slip or move around. I'm very picky about my kitchen tools and gadgets and am very happy with this one. OXO is my favorite and this grater gets a lot of use in our kitchen from zesting lemons to finely grating parmesan over pasta. I've had this zester for a few years and it's a few times during the day for all sorts of tasks. It grates everything very finely and is fabulous for grating parmesan or pecorino over pasta and perfect for turning cinnamon sticks into fine powder. Clean up is always very easy, I have put this in the dishwasher many, many times and there are no signs of rust anywhere, still looks brand new. You should consider purchasing two of these because when one is in the dishwasher, you'll have the second one as back up.

The thin, flimsy little microplane graters are just awful. This one is my top fave. Big handle for comfortable grip. Light weight. Plenty of support so the thing doesn't warp and bend. The only caveat is that I would suggest you don't put this in the dishwasher. My sister-in-law had one, and it ended up all cracked and gross looking even though she put it in the top rack. If you want this to last, just give it a blast with the sink spray thingy, or a brush.

Works great with butter if you are trying to bake fluffy biscuits or scones and you need to have the butter "chopped finely". Seconda volta che compro questo prodotto, la prima volta lo avevo preso in negozio pagandolo qualcosina di più e la durata è stata di 2 anni, poi lavandola spesso in lavastoviglie la plastica bianca nella zona del manico si è cristallizata e si è spezzata.
Perchè allora ricomprarla? Perchè odio pulire le grattugie classiche e questa con un colpo di spugna nel lato opposto alle lamelle si pulisce in un attimo, non la laverò più in lavastoviglie vediamo se ne aumento la durata.
P.S. La uso principalmente per grattare il formaggio e non come grattugia per scorza di agrumi.
