I purchased this for my husband. He was a roofer for 13 years, 5 yrs ago he fell off of a roof and now is permanently disabled. He has 30% mobility in his upper right body & shoulder. Unfortunately nothing healed properly, and he has been in constant pain from a displaced ac joint, torn rotar cuff, bursitis, improperly healed shoulder tip fracture, among various other injuries. This brace keeps his shoulder back and in place. While he still has pain in his upper body and neck, he said it's a lot more tolerable. After 5 years of watching him struggle with his pain and refusal of meds, I got the pleasure of watching him walk around and do things. With less pain! It does take 2 people to put it on, each time. And it's just a smidgen too big. But, overall he's very happy as am I :)

Let me begin by saying that this product should not replace any medical advice, physical therapy, etc. However, for those of us who don't want to have a shoulder looked at, I recommend this product.

This product is reasonably comfortable and easily adjustable. It uses Velcro to adjust the strap across the chest and Velcro to adjust the sleeve. There is a comfortable Velcro "guard" that products your back from the scratchiness of the Velcro, however, there is one lacking for the front (I cut a hole in a sock and it did the job well enough). This product does not breath well - wearing it around during the day produced a lot of sweat.

I have had shoulder pain as a result of over-use on and off for some time (this time it was from swinging a pick-axe for several hours on end). Typically, I just wait it out until it heals up and the pain goes away. Thought I would give a brace a try and ended up wearing it to bed every night for a week or two. The pain went away fairly quickly and my shoulder felt better than it had in a long time.

I would recommend this product despite its drawbacks.

I had rotator cuff surgery three weeks ago and was worried that the large shoulder sling/brace would make it difficult for me at work; sleeping was also uncomfortable as well wearing the ortho-brace. But, I understand that the large sling/brace gives me the appropriate support while I heal. However, I was looking for something I could transition into - that would allow me to have better support while at work, driving, around the house, and while asleep. The Vive SB works great. I've been wearing it at night and it provides enough support while allowing me to sleep comfortably throughout the night. I begin physical therapy in a few days and my goal is to get through physical therapy and transition into the Vive full-time. The Velcro is strong and the material provides support without becoming too hot while wearing it; my plan is to wear the Vive over my t-shirt, but underneath my shirt while at work - the Vive is not bulky and you can't tell that you are wearing it. When the Vive was shipped, it was configured for the right shoulder/arm; however I was easily able to switch and adjust it to the left shoulder. I feel it provides the right amount of support. I look forward to working out and jogging again while wearing the Vive, as soon as I'm cleared by my physicians to begin regular fitness activities. I'm happy I chose this product.

I really wanted to like this product, but there were several things that just didn't work for me: The cuff says it's "one size fits all" but this really felt like it was made for a 6-foot tall man. (I'm a 5'4" woman). My breasts were constantly in the way of the strap that goes across the chest- which was the biggest issue. The other issue was that the area right outside my armpit (the soft, fleshy skin, that's surprisingly sensitive) was squished and irritated the entire time I wore it. It's also almost impossible to get on and fitted correctly without another person to help you.

My shoulder DID stay warm, which I appreciated, but it was really sweaty and very tight to the body, and because of that, trying to pull the sleeve up a little for readjustment was really uncomfortable.

I didn't feel like I was being protected much more than without a brace, and the neoprene was very strong smelling. I'm going to go back and look for something with less velcro, a softer chest strap, and a more breathable material. Something more like a compression sleeve than a brace.

It is perfect for heavy activity (sports, lifting weights, climbing etc.) if i want to ensure my shoulder doesn't pop out. I love how adjustable it is as well and the fact that it can be used for both arms. I have very small shoulders so I found it was a tad big on the shoulder area itself but that can be fixed if you tighten the other straps.
