Safety Information

None<b>📺🗼Tips for Better TV Reception and More Channels </b> ☑Experiment with different antenna locations in your home. ☑Face the antenna in the direction of the TV signal towers. Use a longer coaxial cable to reach the window facing the tower if needed. ☑Place the antenna as high as possible on a window or wall. ☑When living near mountains or surrounded by buildings or tall trees, try laying the antenna on a table or other flat surface. ☑Use the amplifier when needed to boost reception. Note that the amplifier may actually cause interference in certain situations, so it’s always best to try with and without the amplifier to compare reception results. ☑Eliminate interference from electronics and electric equipment by keeping the antenna away from other electronic appliances in your home.

Legal Disclaimer

You can Remove the Detachable antenna amplifier if your house is within 35 miles range from the tower. We do NOT Recommend to use this amplifier or booster if your house is very close to the broadcast tower and the signal is already very strong.

Works great…but not for Florida
This is a great antenna. I purchased 3 of them and the reception is great. However, the Florida heat disintegrated them in the window, which is where I got the best reception. If I lived in a different climate, this would be a 5 star review.

A few things to remember:

Many stations have moved to UHF so most antennas are not going to work well much past 50 miles
from the transmitter site, and most indoor antennas will only be good for about 30 or so miles.

For indoor antennas Putting the antenna in a window facing the TV Station's antenna site
will give the best results (Most stations and strongest signal) as well as installing higher up.

Size does matter to a degree, a larger antenna (for the TV Bands) will tend to capture more of the signal.

Do your homework first and find out what the frequencies and directions of the stations
are in for your location so you can buy the appropriate model for the best results.
(This antenna is good for the UHF band, but if your channels are on VHF you will want a different one.)

Sometimes a preamp will make the reception worse to try it, with and without the preamp.
--
That being said, I'm pretty impressed with this little antenna, I only have them stuck to a
window and pointed a bit off from the optimum direction and they still perform pretty well.

I could spend quite a bit more and go with a larger outdoor antenna and get better results
but for the price that I paid (under $20 for each antenna ), these antennas work quite well.

UPDATE 10/25/2016: I cannot get more than 70 channels anymore. Of the 70, maybe 5 are in English and aren't shopping channels. And I get only one major network. So this product doesn't work for me in the end. I tried moving the antenna 50 different times, which only resulted in using more doublesided tape and a lot of tape residue all over my window.

UPDATE 10/18/2016: The antenna was inadvertently moved and now for the life of me I cannot get more than maybe 70 channels, most of which are NOT major network channels. At this point I'm rather disappointed and have spent a lot of time experimenting with placement and am getting about 1/2 of the total channels as before.

I decided to finally cut the cable cord and bought this antenna as a similar type came highly recommended but this one was considerably less expensive. I live just 20 miles from downtown LA so I figured the 50 mile radius would be more than enough. Perhaps 20-30 miles would have been fine, or even rabbit ears.

Either way, at last search I had 124 channels! Mind you, it's important to search and search again and again and again and move the antenna around, up and down, on its back, flat, on the wall, in a window, etc. For me the window facing north works best. I live in a courtyard style apartment complex on the first of two floors yet I guess that doesn't matter as it must penetrate structures/trees, etc. in some way that I don't understand.

I do think there are many, many variables to consider, including weather (which I don't have) and perhaps wind in particular. It seems that even if you put the antenna in a fixed location, your channels and reception will vary from time to time. When that happens, I'd suggest searching and searching again and so on.

Getting ABC to come in took several tries. It finally happened when I got up to 121 channels I think. Even then it's not real clear but I know if I fiddle with the antenna's location a tad it will come in fine. That of course means that once the antenna is moved even a bit, other channels might be lost or at less viewable. Yet you might get some channels that you previously did not.

Oddly enough I have a local San Diego CBS channel which comes in great, even though I am roughly 100 miles north of San Diego (and my antenna faces north, not south).

While 124 channels may sound fantastic, I would say at least 2/3 of them are in languages I don't speak.

I've realized that there is so much better tv to be found with an antenna instead of with cable. Some examples in the past few days: "Barney Miller," "The Mary Tyler Moore," "The White Shadow" and "Charlie's Angels," not to mention terrific classic movies like "The Great Escape." Sure, I might be dating myself but this stuff is more watchable to me than any reality tv program of today. Since most of what I watch besides live sports is nothing in particular, preferring to channel-surf mindlessly, this works out A-OK for me.

One issue is that with antenna tv, unless you have a tv guide and/or want to go online to check every channel's website for listings, you really don't know what is on and when. And the descriptions (when they appear) for shows are often very basic.

Perhaps someone has a suggestion on how I can easily find out what each local channel is broadcasting.

Ultimately I wish I had done this years ago. With streaming MLB & NBA subscriptions plus Sling TV when needed (for ESPN, TNT, TBS and other channels that show MLB & NBA playoff games live that are not usually shown streaming online even with subscription), I am going to save tons and am a happy camper. Note: MLB Extra Innings on cable (which my dad has, 100 miles away) now comes with a free subscription to its streaming online service (which is normally $110-$130 of late) so it's a boon for me as I use that for free.

It's been close to a month and I am now getting 149 channels. Some are pixelated/unclear but that's a lot of channels!

This system was easy to install. Depending on which station you are on, there is a lot of pixels. For some reason ABC seems to be the worst, but others have intermittent pixel issues. It is great to have to pick up your local stations since I do not have a a TV subscription that has local. There are quite a few stations, but I we are thinking of getting another antenna system that is stronger with more range. It is a great free substitution for cable subscription. I only have apps, Prime, Netflix and roku. No local stations until I purchased this antenna.

We live in a high rise in downtown Denver. Our building only provides DirectTV. Although they advertise getting numerous channels, perhaps only 30% are actually watchable, the rest being advertising channels etc., and the cost was horrendous. We decided to cut the cable. We ordered the 1byone 50 miles amplified HDTV antenna. Installation was super easy and took me maybe 5-10 minutes at most. We were worried that since we live in a high rise in the center of town with big buildings all around us that the 1byone would get too much interference and would not work. We were totally surprised and happy to find that we receive all the local channels very clearly, and approximately 20 more channels that I didn't even know existed! We have a Roku for internet tv. If we want to watch a movie we turn to Netflix for Amazon Prime. There are numerous other internet providers as well. We do not miss cable at all!! And, we are saving over $100/month (even after including add on costs for the internet channels we subscribe to). Our tv viewing now is more a choice of "what do I want to watch" instead of surfing for the least objectionable channel to watch on cable. We are very happy with the 1byone. It does what it claims to do, is unobtrusive decoration wise, and was well worth the money. My wife comments that our screen picture on the HD channels we get is clearer than it was with cable. For anyone considering cutting cable, the 1byone enables that, and is well worth the money.

Don't answer if you don't know.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine if you're within range of local OTA TV stations.
Reviewed in Canada on June 9, 2022
First off, use the TVFool website to see what OTA stations are available in your area (enter in your postal code or zip code, then do a search). I live about 25 minutes north of Toronto, Ontario, so I knew that there were at least 30+ free OTA TV channels from Toronto and Buffalo that I'd be able to watch if everything worked out. Unfortunately for me, this small antenna had to be placed on an inside wall facing AWAY from the broadcast TV antennas that I wanted to catch. This of course was far from ideal. I knew that I'd loose quite a few channels mounting it that way, but I had no choice, because the bedroom TV that I wanted to use it with, is located on the opposite side of the house, and that room didn't have a coax cable from the home builder going to it that I could have used to extend/relocate the antenna's amplified white box and the rectangular antenna array to a better location. Anyway, I plugged the antenna into the 'ANT/Cable' connection on the back of my Hisense 50" TV, and used a small 5v power brick to supply the needed power to the amplifier's white box. Please note, the TV already has a built-in ATSC tuner, and you NEED this type of tuner or else this antenna (or any other indoor or outdoor UHF/VHF antenna) won't catch any OTA TV stations. Anyway, I then slid the little black switch on the white amplifier box to 'distant' (which turns on the built in amplifier), and then sat back and waited for the TV's ATSC tuner to do it's thing. I ended up with 12 OTA channels (all from Toronto), which is not bad considering where I had to place the antenna. I tied it again with the switch set to 'local', but it only found 5 channels, so I scanned it again with the distant switch turned back on.

For comparison, I also have a outdoor rooftop Channel Master UHF/VHF OTA antenna, and that thing brings in almost 40 channels without any issues.... then again, the Channel Master antenna is mounted high on the roof without any obstructions between the TV towers in Toronto and Buffalo, and my home's outdoor antenna.

This little powered antenna has to deal with a whole bunch of walls and doors, which severely interferes with OTA signals, but it was still able to find 12 channels. I'm impressed by that. With that said, am I happy overall with this little powered antenna for the spare bedroom TV? Yep, especially when I take into account how easy it was to mount on the wall, how small it is when compared to my large outdoor one, and how affordable it was when I bought it. It's a great option for people that want to try out OTA, and don't want to use a bigger outdoor antenna.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1byone 50 Miles Amplified vs Digiwave BMX
Reviewed in Canada on January 12, 2017
Replaced our Digiwave BMX with this 1byone 50 Miles Amplified because, although we're relatively close to a DTV transmission tower (4mi / 7km) we have a lot of obstructions to line of sight, and the signal was breaking up on several channels.

CONS: not a huge improvement considering it's triple the size of the BMX. The amplifier made no difference ON or OFF for any of the channels, and it needs to remain plugged in for the antenna to function, so another outlet is now taken.

PROS: once the 1byone was moved to a new location, only made possible because of the longer cable provided by this antenna, wow. New channels, plus the old channels don't break up anymore. Is it the antenna or the location? I'd say probably a little of both. And the build quality is better than the BMX - cable is sturdier and it just looks better overall. Then again, if you like things compact, the BMX is a great option. The 1byone is DEFINITELY better than rabbit ears or the "star trek phaser" antennas than sit beside the TV; no comparison.

CONCLUSION:
Worth the money, well built and does the job with careful placement, nice long, strong cable. Amplifier may not do much.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very good value for money, but you get what you pay for.
Reviewed in Canada on June 4, 2020
I've bought a number of these amplified HDTV antennas over the years, and was intrigued by the low price ($13 CAD) of this "latest 2020" model. But really, this is just a standard 2018 model, heavily discounted in price. Performance of this "50 mile" antenna is slightly below my early 2019 model "60 mile" model, and well below by new true 2020-model with "130+ mile" range.

Where I live (between Toronto and Hamilton), I can actually pick ~35 channels (most from Buffalo) with a good antenna. With the true 2020-model, all 35 come in very stably. My old 2019 model could only get ~2/3 to 3/4 of the channels reliably (and only with good weather). This model picks up a few channels less than that. Although all the ratings are inflated, I would rate them as the "50 mile" < "60 mile" << "130+mile".

That said, it is still very good value for money - but you would be better off paying the extra $15-20 to get a true 2020-edition ("130+ miles")

Pros:
- Low price
- Quality-looking cabling, and a good overall length

Cons:
- Large and inflexible, heavier antenna (i.e., about 13x9 inches, vs ~8x8 inches for newer models)
- Oddly requires a power connection to function, even in an unamplified state. If you don't plug it in to AC power, you zero channels. It seems power is required to connect the antenna path to the coax, which is bizarre.
- The power switch is reverse labelled: "On" actually means off/unamplified, and "Off" turns on the amplifier (!). Unamplified, it works the same as my 2019 or 2020 models, and picks up the same small fraction of channels (~20% max). The larger antenna surface is not help in the unamplified state

Again, for all these reasons, I recommend you go with a modern, true 2020-edition, rated as "130+ miles".

5.0 out of 5 stars Increased number of TV channels from 6 to 12 in Ottawa
Reviewed in Canada on February 2, 2021
NOTE: the on/off switch is reversed on this product. The signal amplifier is actually powered when the switch is in the OFF position, which is why you get more channels with the switch in the OFF position. The on/off sticker needs to be reversed.

I live in the east end of Ottawa (Orleans) in a wood framed house. Previously I was only able to get six channels over the air (4,6,13,24,30). I installed this antenna in a bedroom upstairs on a book shelf about 2m from a window. I now get twelve channels: 4-CBC-en, 6-Global, 9-CBC-fr, 11-CHCH, 13-CTV, 14-Omni2, 15-CTS(YesTV), 24-TVO, 30-CIVO, 32-CHOT-TVA, 43-CHRO, 60-Omni1. So this is a big improvement. Also the picture quality is excellent.

The antenna is very light and looks stylish. The power supply and all cables are provided.

The reason I mention the wood frame house above is that we also tried this antenna in an apartment building with concrete walls. The apartment unit was located in the east-end of Ottawa and faced east, that is away from the main broadcast TV antenna at Camp Fortune. We were not able to pick up any channels. You would have the same issue with ANY antenna. The TV signal cannot penetrate all the concrete walls in the apartment building. It can only come through the patio doors/balcony windows Since this apartment was in the east-end, it would need to face north or west to get reception from the Camp Fortune antenna. This is very Ottawa specific, but the point is that if you live in an apartment, find out where the TV broadcast antennas are in your region and ensure your apartment unit has a clear path to that antenna. Again, this statement applies to ANY antenna you buy.

I have tried nearly dozen of HDTV antennas from the exact same location in Toronto, I always choose omni-directional, amplified models. This antenna did not measure up at all. My baseline from my location is 26 channels, some models deliver that, or more. This model only gave me only 2 channels!! Even strong channels were not found. I rotated and relocated the antenna at various angles and positions. I was very disappointed. However I took it to a friend's house in a different location, elsewhere in GTA, and there I could find 34 channels (baseline for that location with my best HD antenna was 30-36 channels), so it worked well there. However any slight movement or tilt would drop a few of the weak channels. My laymen's verdict: this antenna is good only for short range and location close to the signal tower. Also I don't think the amplifier is very strong and it doesn't boost the weak signals very much. It didn't meet my needs but I gave it away to a friend, where it worked okay.
